Governor Katzenjammer Turns on TV-Changes His Mind
"Keep dat foreign oil koming, baby."
It should come as no surprise that Kalifornia Governor Katzenjammer has done another flip flop. After years of changing his mind about spending and taxes, Katzenjammer has now decided to pull the plug (no pun intended) on plans for off-shore oil drilling in California. Here is his statement:
"You turn on de televizion und zee dis enormus dizaster, you zay to yorzelf, 'Vy vud ve vant to take on dat kind of risk?"
Translation?
"You turn on the television and see this enormous disaster, you say to yourself, ‘Why would we want to take on that kind of risk?’”
So what if he turns on his TV and happens to see the old movie, "Towering Inferno"? Does he issue an order that no buildings in California be over two stories?
Ach du lieber Gott!

I would have hoped that Arnie would have waited until some facts came in about how this happened and a little empirical evidence.
You mean that big oil spill isn't empirical evidence of the potential cost of offshore drilling? What do you think caused this big spill? Leprechauns?
Yes and no. It is a consideration, but let's see what the cause was and the chances of a repeat. Is a crash of a 747 empirical evidence that we should end all air travel?
Apples and oranges. Or, more like it, apples and hand grenades.
I do agree that we should look into exactly what happened. If it's preventable, then perhaps we can still do it. Until then, we should err on the side of caution. I don't think we could take too many more of those.
We sure can't but until we find our own supply, we are hostage to the oil kingdoms.
