I'm not going to overdo this Chris Matthews comment on Rush Limbaugh like the left would jump all over a similar comment by a conservative pundit. I will just make a couple of casual comments because that's all they deserve. Clearly, Rush Limbaugh delights in pushing the liberal buttons and watching them hyperventilate. I have a idea this deal about buying the St Louis Rams is just a publicity gimmick designed to set off the left wing and get Rush some more attention. If so, it appears to be working. Here is what Matthews said:
As I said, I am not about to jump up and charge that Matthews is really advocating that someone shoot Rush Limbaugh. That would be just as silly as what Matthews said. At the same time, I think it is sad that a major news network (I'll say NBC here)resorts to this kind of hyperbole. I used to think that Matthews, though he acknowledged he was a liberal, would go after Democrats when they were wrong just as he would Republicans. I thought that he cared more about the right vs wrong of each individual issue or event as it occurred. However, in the last few years, Matthews has shed any semblance of impartiality as he basically shills for the Democratic Party. This is the man who said, "Yea!" when on election night in 2006, another Democrat won a seat as the Dems took over majority in Congress. Matthews has, unfortunately, become a caricature of himself.
I also find it unseemly that news networks are actively engaging in war against each other in front of their viewers. Networks are attacking other networks and commentators are attacking other commentators. Could you imagine Walter Cronkite attacking John Chancellor on the air? Of course not. Somewhere in the archives of the networks don't they have faded old guidelines that state that this is unprofessional?
Chris Matthews could have been so much better had he not fallen into line with the mad hatters who infest MSNBC. He has become one of them when he could have been standing head and shoulders above them.
Meanwhile, Rush Limbaugh laughs all the way to the bank.

To compare Rush with Walter Cronkite or John Chancellor is silly. Those man had class while Limbaugh is an embarrassment to the whole nation. He'll do himself in, just wait and see.
You miss the point, Ingrid. It's not just about Rush. It's about the on-going war between the networks and between the commentators. It is not a matter of comparing Rush to Cronkite or Chancellor.
