While Edwards never made it to President, I thought that you might find this amusing.

You mean my hero, Calvin Cooledge lied too?

That's a typo.

It's not a typo-it's a lie.

OK- Coolidge

Whoops - that wasn't even what I was referring to. Never mind though, 'cause now the joke is dead.

And how long did it take for the MSM to get your hints? 2 weeks.

Can we get the National Enquirer to start stalking Obama? I wonder where he is hiding his mistress? Or is it mistresses?

Gary,

Sorry I haven't been around to comment on the whole Edwards thing. Been too busy following the Olympics!

Anyways, my take on it is that the mainstream media did the right thing in not reporting on the scandal until they had evidence from a reliable source. The National Enquirer is NOT a reliable source (look into them, they've completely MADE UP stories in the past and have been successfully sued for it), so to trust them on this would have set a dangerous precedent. Should the major news outlets start getting their stories from all the tabloid rags? Hell no. I mean, isn't reporting in this country already poor enough as it is? The less sensationalistic garbage the better.

The National Enquirer was right THIS TIME. That doesn't meant we should start believing every story they print, and cry foul when the major outlets (including Fox News) don't pick up on it right away.

Edwards isn't going to be VP. He isn't going to be AG. He won't even be speaking at the convention. So it's time to move on. I'm glad this story has been overshadowed by the Olympics, which was of course Edwards plan I'm sure.

Back to watching the Games!

Well Bryan, I hate to say I told you so.....

You are correct that this doesn't mean that we should now consider NE an unimpeachable source, but the MSM is not much more trustworthy. So what was the event that led them to finally come out with the story? Was it John Edwards' "confession" on Nightline (and pls see my post on that interview)?

Edwards is still lying his pants off in my view. He denies paternity and says he is willing to be tested, but he knows only Hunter can authorize the baby being tested. He was all over the place in not admitting that he was the one in the photograph- clearly evasive on that point. And he denies having any knowledge of who would be paying Hunter money.

Edwards still has a lot to hide. Move on? What if Hunter has been receiving money from campaign funds? I am not saying that is the case, but it is a strong possibility. That may be Edwards' biggest worry right now.
