Richard Cravatts Speaks on University Jihad
"One person's hate speech is another person's education."
Hat tip to Front Page Magazine
Richard Cravatts, author of a new book entitled, Genocidal Liberalism, The University Jihad Against Israel and Jews, was interviewed by Front Page Magazine's Jamie Glazov. In this interview, Cravatts describes the anti-Israel movement on our college campuses. He talks about the Muslim Student Associations, the Middle East Studies departments, and focuses on California campuses. And guess which campus is front and center in this interview. That would be UC Irvine, where I teach and can testify that Cravatts' statements are true.I am cross-posting the interview here.

You can order Cravatts' book online at the Front Page site. I just did.
Another UC Davis Fiasco
This week, two Israeli soldiers spoke at UC Davis. Not unexpectedly, anti-Israel students and others showed up to heckle and shut the event down. Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers has the report and a video.
http://proisraelbaybloggers.blogspot.com/2012/02/uc-davis-should-be-ashamed.html
If you don't know a lot about the Israel-Palestinian issue and can't figure out who the good guys are and who the bad guys are, pay attention to which side gets to speak without any disruption and which side routinely gets their presentations disrupted-if they even get to speak on a college campus.
Undoubtedly, this punk in the video would never even think to put on a uniform and serve his own country's military, but he thinks he can disrupt those that do when they attempt to speak their piece.
And where were the UCD Campus Police? What are they a bunch of potted plants? Have they run out of pepper spray, or are they now too timid to enforce rules and laws on campus? Did they never anticipate that security might be necessary for this type of an event?
The list of disgraceful events at UC campuses continues to climb under the feckless leadership of UC President Mark Yudof. It has infected virtually every UC campus and brought disrepute to what should be a great university. The time has long since passed when he and all his feckless chancellors should find another line of work. They have proven they cannot run a college campus.

Contraception Blues
Here are some of the latest developments on President Obama and Health and Human Services Commissar Kathleeen Sibelius' scheme to make insurance companies pay for contraception-even if it violates the religious convictions of employers-like the Catholic Church-who purchase the coverage for their employees.
Embattled Attorney General Eric Holder, aside from repeating his lies about Fast and Furious, told Congress yesterday that DOJ will defend Obama's "grand compromise" in court.
http://cnsnews.com/news/article/holder-1st-amendment-allows-govt-force-catholics-buy-sterilization-contraception
Meanwhile, Catholics are fuming over a piece written in the Huffington Post by Larry Doyle that insulted their religion (to put it mildly). They are demanding that publisher Arianna Huffington (Greece's greatest gift to the US until bankruptcy) issue an apology.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/02/28/conservative-leaders-demand-apology-from-huffington-over-anti-catholic-column/
But the piece de resistance has to be the testimony before Congress (per request of Nancy Pelosi) of Georgetown Law School student Sandra Fluke on the devastating cost of contraceptives to her and her schoolmates. Get out your handkerchiefs as you watch this. (Hat tip CNS News)

Yes, folks. A typical law school student-especially one on a public interest scholarship- must pay out $3,000 during law school for contraceptives. That's what I call sexually active. You know the old story, it's either food for the week or condoms for the week. One wonders what the next entitlement will be.

More Perjury From Eric Holder on Fast and Furious
Attorney General Eric Holder
2011 Fousesquawk "Jerk of the Year"
Hat tip to Daily Caller
Tuesday, Eric Holder was testifying before Congress on budget issues (He probably needs more money to fight that challenge to the contraceptive coverage issue, which he vows to defend). He was asked about Fast and Furious. Not only did he continue to commit perjury, he pounded the table for emphasis. ('"Once this was brought to my attention, I stopped it-I stopped it.") Daily Caller and Fox News have the story and the video.
http://dailycaller.com/2012/02/29/holder-loses-cool-during-house-hearing-when-asked-about-fast-and-furious/
False. He continued it-even after learning that Border Patrol agent Brian Terry had been killed by one of the concerned weapons in December 2010. Not only did he continue it, he originated it. Then there was that letter DOJ sent to Issa's committee on February 4, 2011, which had to be withdrawn because it was shown to be demonstrably false. Holder still clings to the fiction that Fast and Furious was merely a continuation of Operation Wide Receiver, which was conducted and discontinued during the Bush administration once they discovered that some weapons-even though fitted with trackers- had eluded surveillance and found their way into Mexico.
Of course, Holder has dug himself so deep into the perjury hole, he might as well go all the way. He also knows that once Congress gets their hands on those 80,000 documents that the DOJ Inspector General has in its possession, the game will be over. That will be the equivalent of the Nixon tapes.

"Conflict Resolution" at UCLA
Hat tip to Campus Watch
How sad when a major university, instead of teaching real subjects to students, has to devote so much time to the subject of "Conflict Resolution". Look what is happening at UCLA.

Here is what Myers said about Israel in an op-ed back in 2006.

Well, what better way of resolving conflicts then by having them resolved by two guys with similar views?

Yesterday, the Occupy kiddies turned out to counter-protest some group in Sacramento called the South Africa Project. When it was over 2 cops were injured. Gateway Pundit has a report along with a video produced by one of the Occupy folks.

Another Sick Outburst by Louis Farrakhan
Hat tip Daily Caller
Louis Farrakhan has crawled out of his hole again and given his followers a 4- hour diatribe against Israel, Jews and America.
http://dailycaller.com/2012/02/28/farrakhan-on-a-mission-to-demonize-and-scapegoat-jews-says-adl/
Hate speech? Do you think the main stream media will spend much time on this? How about the loons at MSNBC? How much time will they take away from their non-stop attacks on Republicans to condemn this pathetic hate-monger?
The Nation of Islam is an organization founded on hate. True, it was established during the era before the Civil Rights movement. To this day, it has contribued nothing to racial harmony. Its leader, Louis Farrakhan, has done nothing to heal the divisions. He has only stoked them and made them worse.

Another Take on the Garden Grove Town Hall

Steve Amundson, who also attended the town hall at the Islamic Center of Orange County on February 19, has written his own account of the event in Red County.

I heartily concur with Steve's description of the event. It was disgraceful.

The Woes of David Brock
David Brock Napoleon (before they took him
away)
"They're coming to take me away."
Media Matters founder David Brock is learning the hard way that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Brock lives in a glass house, yet makes his living throwing stones. Recently, he has been going after Fox News-literally trying to destroy the only conservative news network we have. Now he learns that payback is...well, you know. Read the below Fox News story on Brock's troubles.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/02/27/media-matters-boss-paid-former-partner-850g-blackmail-settlement/
Brock began his career as a conservative-or at least he pretended to be one. He did a hit piece on Hillary Clinton. Then, inexplicably, Brock woke up one day as he drifted into middle age and decided he would be a liberal hit man. His creation, Media Matters, is actually a 501c3. That is supposed to be non-partisan, but MM is anything but non-partisan. They meet at the White House with Obama's team and plan their strategy to discredit the Republicans. And Fox News. MM is a prime source of information for NBC News and their mad-hatter section MSNBC. The latest disclosures indicate that they even try to shadow Fox employees to get dirt on them. This all raises the question of how Media Matters can maintain their tax status.
By many accounts, Brock is cracking under the pressure. He sees enemies everywhere and screams at people who work with him. He has armed guards even though he pushes for gun control, so others won't have the same protections he has. Reportedly, he thinks his life is in danger (maybe from the Tea Party).
At any rate, I thought I would dust off this oldie that might cheer David up.
Sharia Compatible With US Constitution? Read This
US Imam Muzammil Siddiqi
Pushing Sharia in the US
The horrifying case of the Christian pastor who is sentenced to death in Iran is still hanging out there as the international community raises an outcry.
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2012/02/27/irans-christian-pastor-alive-execution-looming/?test=latestnews
I hope you read the portions of the above article that describe Sharia's penalty for apostasy. Here in the US, Islamist leaders are actually attempting to sell the public and our leaders that Sharia is perfectly compatible with US law, the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. If you don't believe me, just read my account of the town hall in Garden Grove last Sunday at the Islamic Center of Orange County. Imam Muzammil Siddiqi told an audience (including me) that Shariah was in perfect harmony with our laws and Constitution. And there sitting at a table with him were none other than Maxine Waters, Loretta Sanchez, Judy Chu (all Democrat congresswomen), LA Sheriff Lee Baca, Pakistani Consul general Riffat Masood, the US Attorney for the Central District of California, Andre Birotte, and the chief of LAPD's counter terrorism squad, Michael Downing. Nobody from that exalted group tried to challenge that whopper. As we speak, Siddiqi has two more presentations scheduled in April in which he will try to sell Sharia to a gullible audience.
This is why 13 states are attempting to pass legislation that would keep out Sharia or any other foreign law from their state constitutions. (They were denigrated for that by some of the above speakers.)
Here is one thing that is important in the issue. How could we acknowledge a code that would call for a death fatwa against an American Muslim because he or she decides to change religions? Are we to say to our Muslim citizens that certain protections will not apply to them because they are living under Sharia-in America?
No way.
More on the Garden Grove Town Hall by Karen Lugo
Hat tip to Town Hall
My friend and colleague Karen Lugo, a constitutional law expert, has written an article in Town Hall on the Sharia event last week at the Islamic Center of Orange Country. Take particular note of answers given by Imam Muzammil Siddiqi.
http://townhall.com/columnists/karenlugo/2012/02/27/sharia_and_the_constitution
"As I asked him when Muslims would assume a leadership role in repudiating human rights abuses in the name of sharia, he gave rationalizations on how everyone suffered during the revolution in Egypt. He said that country and customs must be taken into consideration when assessing the application of sharia as he also offered that not all governments or actors in Muslim countries follow sharia."
Of course. You see, here is the sticking point. It is true that Muslims living as a minority in non-Muslim countries are told to obey the local laws-as long as they do not interfere with a Muslim's ability to obey God-as expressed in the statement published by the Fiqh Council of North America, which was read by Siddiqi himself. (He is director of FCNA). That itself is a big enough hole to drive a bus through. It is when Muslims achieve majority status that Sharia comes into play-according to the design of the Islamists. Siddiqi himself has been quoted as wishing for the eventual rule of Sharia and Islam world-wide. Of course, he knows he will never live to see it, but it is a long-range mission to him to be achieved peacefully through immigration, demographics, Dawa (outreach) and conversion. How many Muslims are there out there who came here so they would not have to live under Sharia? And now they have people like Siddiqi trying to bring it into our own legal system and using hacks like Maxine Waters and Loretta Sanchez to further their cause.
When asked about what is happening around the world today, the best he can do is mumble about considering the conditions in certain countries at certain points in time. Wonderful.
Muzammil Siddiqi, like Abdul Faisal Rauf, is a master dissembler, who has convinced gullible non-Muslims that he is a moderate. He is not. His associations with proven radicals goes back many years and continues today. He has his fingers in most of the suspicious Islamic organizations in the US today (ISNA, NAIT, and the Figh Council to name a few). The fingerprints of the Muslim Brotherhood are over Siddiqi's associations. What Siddiqi is engaging in is taqiyya (deception).

Joe Biden Wows'em in North Carolina
Check out the guy in the grey shirt over Joe Biden's right shoulder as the VP gives a stirring speech on jobs at a North Carolina community college.
"That's a big f-------' deal!"
"That's a big f-------' deal!"
The Oscars-Another Night of Excess
I didn't intend to watch last night's masked ball, but our neighbors were serving a great Italian dinner, so I dutifully sat there and watched almost all of the Oscars last night. Actually I thought the NBA All-Star game was better. I guess you could say this was the year of the French. Why not since they are now the leaders of the free world as evidenced by Libya? Just a few comments because I have a couple of more important stories percolating.
The pre-show was, as always, sickening. Who cares what some self-absorbed actress is wearing?
"What are you wearing, darling?"
"My dress is by Fifi Lo'rant and my jewelry is from Astair's."
"What are you wearing, Hillary?"
Did you see Nick Nolte last night? He reminded me of Humphrey Bogart in the closing scenes of Treasure of Sierra Madre. That famous booking photo looks good in comparison.
And how about Angelina Jolie, "Skinny legs and all"? I think she borrowed her lipstick from Gloria Allred.
It's over. Put that leg back under your dress.
And how about that stirring speech given by the head chingon of the Academy-you know, the one they give every year. I think it's the same script. Didn't it just get you right here?
But let's give credit where credit is due. Last night was for the glory of eternal France.
Hey! Let's sing the Marseillaise!"
Arise children of the fatherland
The day of glory has arrived
Against us tyranny's
Bloody standard is raised
Listen to the sound in the fields
The howling of these fearsome soldiers
They are coming into our midst
To cut the throats of your sons and consorts
The day of glory has arrived
Against us tyranny's
Bloody standard is raised
Listen to the sound in the fields
The howling of these fearsome soldiers
They are coming into our midst
To cut the throats of your sons and consorts
To arms citizens Form your battalions
March, march
Let impure blood
Water our furrows
March, march
Let impure blood
Water our furrows
What do they want this horde of slaves
Of traitors and conspiratorial kings?
For whom these vile chains
These long-prepared irons?
Frenchmen, for us, ah! What outrage
What methods must be taken?
It is us they dare plan
To return to the old slavery!
Of traitors and conspiratorial kings?
For whom these vile chains
These long-prepared irons?
Frenchmen, for us, ah! What outrage
What methods must be taken?
It is us they dare plan
To return to the old slavery!
What! These foreign cohorts!
They would make laws in our courts!
What! These mercenary phalanxes
Would cut down our warrior sons
Good Lord! By chained hands
Our brow would yield under the yoke
The vile despots would have themselves be
The masters of destiny
They would make laws in our courts!
What! These mercenary phalanxes
Would cut down our warrior sons
Good Lord! By chained hands
Our brow would yield under the yoke
The vile despots would have themselves be
The masters of destiny
Tremble, tyrants and traitors
The shame of all good men
Tremble! Your parricidal schemes
Will receive their just reward
Against you we are all soldiers
If they fall, our young heros
France will bear new ones
Ready to join the fight against you
The shame of all good men
Tremble! Your parricidal schemes
Will receive their just reward
Against you we are all soldiers
If they fall, our young heros
France will bear new ones
Ready to join the fight against you
Frenchmen, as magnanimous warriors
Bear or hold back your blows
Spare these sad victims
That they regret taking up arms against us
But not these bloody despots
These accomplices of Bouillé
All these tigers who pitilessly
Ripped out their mothers' wombs
Bear or hold back your blows
Spare these sad victims
That they regret taking up arms against us
But not these bloody despots
These accomplices of Bouillé
All these tigers who pitilessly
Ripped out their mothers' wombs
We too shall enlist
When our elders' time has come
To add to the list of deeds
Inscribed upon their tombs
We are much less jealous of surviving them
Than of sharing their coffins
We shall have the sublime pride
Of avenging or joining them
When our elders' time has come
To add to the list of deeds
Inscribed upon their tombs
We are much less jealous of surviving them
Than of sharing their coffins
We shall have the sublime pride
Of avenging or joining them
Drive on sacred patriotism
Support our avenging arms
Liberty, cherished liberty
Join the struggle with your defenders
Under our flags, let victory
Hurry to your manly tone
So that in death your enemies
See your triumph and our glory!
What are you wearing?
Support our avenging arms
Liberty, cherished liberty
Join the struggle with your defenders
Under our flags, let victory
Hurry to your manly tone
So that in death your enemies
See your triumph and our glory!
What are you wearing?

Nonie Darwish Disrupted at University of New Mexico
Hat tip New English Review and Act for America, San Fernando Valley Calif.
On February 12, Nonie Darwish, a courageous woman from Egypt who left Islam, was speaking at a pro-Israel event at the University of New Mexico. A group of Occupy Albuquerque, Arabs and Students for Justice in Palestine attempted to disrupt her speech because they didn't think she had a right to get her message across. Fortunately, most of the audience was there in support of Nonie. This is what happened. (Note: Some of these videos are by pro-disrupter websites.)
http://www.newenglishreview.org/blog_direct_link.cfm/blog_id/40825
Here are more videos and the full video of her talk from Israel Matzav.
http://israelmatzav.blogspot.com/2012/02/nonie-darwish-harrased-at-university-of.html
Whenever you want to ask the question of which side is right, watch who disrupts and tries to silence the speaker. Nonie Darwish has put her life on the line to speak out. I have had the pleasure to meet her, and I greatly respect her courage. These snot-nose kids at UNM have no clue. All they know is that if they don't agree with the speaker-shut her down.
And guess what. University of New Mexico Campus Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to come forward. That's because they weren't there. Where in the Hell were they-writing parking tickets? Don't they know there is a fatwa on Nonie's head? This is just another example of the rot that infests our universities.

Obama's Truth Team-Weekly Wrapup
The Truth Team at work
So you want to get involved in politics, do you? Here is what you'll wind up doing. I have just linked the latest weekly wrap-up from Obama's "Truth Team".
http://www.barackobama.com/news/entry/the-weekly-wrap-up-20120226
"Yee gads!!!"
Now go to the main page and see what a Truth Team is really all about. Smears.

I remember when I was a kid growing up in LA and we had a mayor named Sam Yorty. You may remember him.
"Who could forget him?"
In his long years in office, this guy traveled more than Hillary Clinton. Half the cities in the world are now sister cities to LA, thanks to Suitcase Sam. The first time he was challenged by Tom Bradley, he was losing in the polls badly until his launched his......Truth Squad. What that was was a smear campaign against Bradley that resulted in Mayor Sam being re-elected. It was nasty business.
Well, anyway, this is what you can expect if you go to Washington and get involved in all this sordid business of helping someone get elected-or in this case- re-elected.
Hillary Goes Partisan in Tunisia
Cracking under the strain of too much jet lag?
Our gal Hillary has made yet another gaffe, this time in Tunisia, when she abused her position as Secretary of State to take partisan shots at the Republican candidates.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/02/26/clinton-overseas-backs-down-from-obama-reelection-comments/
Of course, Hillary may be pardoned for cracking under the stress of being put on a non-stop circle the globe run that has been going on for 3 years now. Every time she is able to get off that plane in some foreign country and stretch her legs, she makes some kind of unprofessional or inappropriate comment.
For all you UC Santa Cruz Community Studies majors, the position of secretary of state is SUPPOSED to be non-political and non-partisan. Of course, Mrs Clinton is a partisan Democrat, but it is not considered professional to make negative statements about other parties when addressing foreign audiences.
This is the last straw. I call on President Obama to fire Mrs Clinton immediately.

"Which of those guys is Rufus?" The tentacles of Big Government have never been longer than they are now under Barack Obama. This is the latest e-mail I got today from some guy named Rufus Gifford. Their records indicate that I have not contributed to Obama and Biden's re-election campaign. "That's a big f--------' deal." "Make him an offer he can't refuse." "Friend, As you may have noticed, we've asked you for a donation a few times now. But according to our records, you haven't yet made an online donation to this campaign at this email address. (If our records are wrong, I apologize and thank you!) I'm not writing to ask you for money again. I'm actually writing to ask your opinion about why you haven't given, and what you think would inspire you or other Obama supporters like you to decide to take the leap and donate. We have two quick questions for you. Can you take a minute to answer them? There's a good reason we're asking for your feedback: The kind of organization we all decided to be a part of only works if people like you pitch in to build it. It's also the reason no other candidate has been able to match our level of grassroots support. This isn't the easiest way to run a campaign -- but we know it's the right way. "Whadda'ya means youse don't wanna contribute to the president?" ......."That's why we want to know what you're thinking. Please take a minute to answer these two questions today: http://my.barackobama.com/Your-Support-In-2012 Thanks so much, Rufus Rufus Gifford National Finance Director Obama for America P.S. -- Of course, if you'd like to become one of our million-plus grassroots donors today, by all means, please make a donation of $3 or whatever you can afford." "Hey Buddy. Can ya spare 3 bucks?" |
So I goes to the link dat says, "What would inspire me to donate", and I says..... "If someone put a gun to my head." |
When Do We Start Taking Our Enemies at Their Word?
Hat tip to Daily Caller
Daily Caller is featuring two articles that put all this Koran-burning in Afghanistan in clearer focus. The first describes how Iran's top ayatollahs are talking about bringing on that 12th imam.
http://dailycaller.com/2012/02/23/irans-grand-ayatollahs-earth-belongs-to-muslims-end-is-near/2/
And some of you are worried about Rick Santorum's religiosity?
At the last debate in Arizona, Ron Paul went on another one of his peace tangents by asking why, if we could talk to the Soviet Union in the face of their nuclear weapons, could we not talk down Iran?
Simple answer: The Soviets, with all their flaws, were rational people. They knew that a nuclear war would wipe them out as well as the US. The madmen who run Iran don't care. It's part of their master scheme. If more people had read Mein Kampf, perhaps Hitler would have been stopped around the time he re-occupied the Rhineland. Instead, we had to fight a world war that cost almost 60 million lives.
That brings me to the second article, which regards Charles Krauthammer's take on the Koran-burning apologies as riots and killings continue in Afghanistan.
http://dailycaller.com/2012/02/25/krauthammer-u-s-apology-for-koran-burning-embarrassing-groveling/
Krauthammer was right. A local apology could have been sufficient for what was a mistake-even though those same Korans were being used to scrawl secret messages between prisoners. For the president to prostrate himself and send an emissary to apologize to a local mosque was excessive. Putting aside the killings that have resulted in Afghanistan, one should keep in mind that in that same country, as well as places like Pakistan, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, etc, they don't accidentally burn Bibles. They burn churches and kill people of other religions-and not by accident. How many apologies are we aware of to the Christian world?
I am aware of none.
Similarly, I am unaware of apologies to the Baha'i faith when their followers in Iran and Egypt are persecuted. The Jews? Hell, they were driven out of these countries back in 1948. What happened to their synagogues? What happened to the synagogues when the last Jews left Gaza? Apologies?
I have said before and will say again; I don't agree with burning Korans. But when some knucklehead does it by design or it is done accidentally, it does not justify going on a rampage and committing murder.
Last Sunday at the Islamic Center of Orange County, I heard a lot of talk about a so-called wave of hate against American Muslims. Not one word was uttered-not one- about the wave of hate that sweeps throughout the Middle East and other nearby regions-a wave of hate that is killing people by the thousands. Here in America, we have set the example, with rare exceptions, when it comes to religious tolerance. We have precious little to apologize for. We have laws that punish perpetrators of violence.
I agree with Ron Paul in one respect. I am sick of having our troops laying down their lives to bring civilization to these parts of the world. Killing our enemies is fine, but dying for countries like Afghanistan is absurd. Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, the coming clash with Iran is coming-in our own self-defense.

PJ Media Writes on the Olive Tree Initiative
Hat tip PJ Media
Janet Levy has just posted an article on the Olive Tree Initiative on PJ Media, which talks about the issue of Jewish self-hatred.
http://pjmedia.com/blog/jewish-self-hatred-and-the-olive-tree-initiative/
As I have stated many times before, being a Gentile, I prefer to leave the accusation of "self-hating Jews" for the Jewish community to sort out. It is a phenomena that I can't seem to put my grip on. It is true that American Jews are anything but monolithic on most issues-even those that deal with anti-Semitism and Israel. Indeed, they are fragmented. I have encountered so many of them that have joined the far-left and anti-Israel forces that, in the end, seek to destroy them. Call it leftist ideology or what have you. Hopefully, many who voted for President Obama in 2008 have now woken up to the fact that he is antagonistic toward Israel and more on the side of her enemies.
As to my own experiences with the OC Jewish Federation and OC Hillel, they have been well-chronicled here and don't need repeating. They have alternately been blind to the problems at UC Irvine, made contradictory statements about it, and have tried to silence those that would confront anti-Semitism on campus and complain about it. Levy's article is timely, and its good to see it on a major conservative blog with a national readership.

Signing Letters at UC Irvine
"One person's hate speech is another person's education."
At UC Irvine, there is ostensibly a Jewish Studies program, which leads to a minor degree. Its head is Julia R. Lupton. Students may take an approved list of classes from specified faculty. Among the listed faculty (21) are two noted anti-Israel activists, Mark LeVine and David Theo Goldberg.
http://www.humanities.uci.edu/jewishstudies/people
Here's a fun fact that may or may not surprise you. Back in May 2010, a group of Jewish faculty members at UCI organized a letter expressing concern about anti-Semitism on the UCI campus that was stirred up by the annual May hate-Israel week of events. This is the letter I tried (unsuccessfully) to get the great "independent scholar with a PhD from Princeton", Norman Finkelstein, to sign when he came to speak. Here is my first question: How many members of the UCI Jewish studies faculty do you think signed the letter?
Answer: Three (Jacobo Sefami, Sara Goodman and Seymour Menton)
http://octaskforce.wordpress.com/2010/05/10/some-community-members-students-and-faculty-indeed-feel-intimidated-and-at-times-even-unsafe/
In fact, I myself scraped up more signatures aside from myself (4), and I'm not even Jewish.
Question two: Subsequent to the indictment of the so-called Irvine 11 (who disrupted the speech of the Israeli ambassador in 2010), a group of UCI Jewish Studies professors signed one or more letters urging the District Attorney of Orange County to dismiss charges. How many of the same UCI Jewish Studies faculty do you think signed those letters?
Answer: Ten

The Hazem Chehabi/UC-Irvine Controversy Continues
Mr and Mrs. Hazem Chehabi receiving the UCI Medal
On Thursday, there was another demonstration at UC-Irvine against the bloody Syrian regime. One poster demanded that UCI cut its ties with Hazem Chehabi, a Syrian doctor in Orange County, who, aside from being the chair of the UCI Foundation, is also the Syrian honorary consul in Orange County. The university continues to stand by Chehabi, who has contributed millions to UCI. In 2010, UCI, through the Department of Social Ecology (Yes, that's what they call it), awarded Shehabi and his wife, whom one school official called "the most beautiful woman he had ever seen", the UCI Medal.
"Ah wunnerful, ah wunnerful, ah."
Mr Chehabi is a very wealthy man, even by doctor standards. He is also a very generous man, who spreads a lot of money around.
Here are some fun facts that show some of Chehabi's political donations, which, of course, are a matter of public record. Apparently, Mr Chehabi has given to both parties. Below are the records for 2002, 2006, 2008 and 2010. Of note is that not only has Chehabi given money to Loretta Sanchez, but also to Keith Ellison and (are you sitting down?) Cynthia McKinney.
http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/contributions/hazem-chehabi.asp?cycle=02
http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/contributions/hazem-chehabi.asp?cycle=06
http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/contributions/hazem-chehabi.asp?cycle=08
http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/contributions/hazem-chehabi.asp?cycle=10
Well, in the end, it appears Chehabi didn't give enough to keep "those Jews" from defeating McKinney and sending her off to graduate school at UC Beserkley. At least that what she, her father and one of her New Black Panther bodyguards have charged.
But there is good news: Chehabi has given money to both Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa and Congressman Darrell Issa of California, who are leading the effort to dig up the facts surrounding Fast and Furious and the corruption of Eric Holder's Justice Department.
But as Syrian dictator Bashar Assad practices his own brand of social ecology in Syria, UCI continues to stand by his honorary consul in Orange County.
The Silence of CAIR-and Others
Hat tip to Forbes and Abigail Esman
I am cross-posting an article written by Abigail Esman in Forbes on the silence of CAIR in the wake of the arrest of the would-be Moroccan bomber in Washington DC on February 17. Note that Esman's article is dated February 18.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/abigailesman/2012/02/18/americas-most-prominent-muslim-group-silent-on-latest-muslim-terror-plot/
Well, Abigail, another week has passed since you wrote that article, and there is still no statement from CAIR. I've been checking their website, but can't seem to find any mention of it.
What's more, on February 19, two days after the arrest and a day after your article, I attended a town hall at the Islamic Center of Orange County attended by LA Sheriff Lee Baca, Democrat congresswomen, Maxine Waters, Loretta Sanchez, Judy Chu and others. There was at least one CAIR representative in the audience. The host was none other than Imam Muzammil Siddiqi, America's most celebrated man of peace. Siddiqi is the former head of the Islamic Society of North America, the current head of the Fikq Council of North America, and is arguably the most influential Muslim leader in the nation. Yet, not one word was uttered about the recent arrest by the FBI and Capital Police. What we did hear were a lot of condemnations of the FBI for targeting Muslims just two days after they had thwarted an attack on the Capitol. I would have hoped that someone would congratulate law enforcement for their great success.
Afghanistan is a Lost Cause
(Fox News)
Invading Afghanistan after 9-11 was an imperative. President Bush had demanded that the Taliban government turn over Usama bin Laden and Al Qaeda. The Taliban refused and continued to harbor them. It was clear what we had to do. More than a decade later, our mission is less clear. Most of the enemy is holed up in their sanctuaries in Pakistan and being taken out one by one or group by group with drone missiles. However, Afghanistan is not worth sacrificing any more American lives for.
Let's be frank; Afghanistan is a primitive, backward country that will always be a primitive and backward country. Eventually, the Taliban or something similar will be back in power. President Karzai is a corrupt and ungrateful leader who is not worth propping up any longer.
This latest episode over inadvertent Koran burning demonstrates that we can never win the hearts and minds of the populace. Now two US advisers have been murdered. Once again, President Obama has apologized for American conduct. Once again, American personnel are murdered by those they thought they were defending. As the mobs rampage and scream, "Death to America", I say it is time to declare victory and come home. As for those bastards hiding in Waziristan, find a friendly country in the region (if we can), set up a small base from which we can launch drone missiles when targets of opportunity arise, and push the right buttons from some Air Force base in Nevada. That's pretty much what we are doing now, isn't it?
Nation-building doesn't work, except when you are dealing with civilizations like Japan or Germany. Afghanistan is no Japan or Germany. Neither is Pakistan. Neither is Iraq. In the immortal words of Newt Gingrich, just the other day, we should tell Karzai, "Good bye and good luck."
Or better yet, here is an "apology" from an everyday American citizen. Enjoy.

Answering the Lies of Muzammil Siddiqi
In response to the PV-TV video I posted of the town hall at the Islamic Center of Orange County, Joe Carey of Radical Truth has produced this response to what Imam Muzammil Siddiqi said last Sunday regarding Sharia and the US Constitution. He has given me permission to post it.
The salient point is that Siddiqi has misrepresented Sharia to his audience when he says that it is in conformance with the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Siddiqi's statement and the statement of the Fiqh Council of North America regarding Sharia and the US Constitution is a lie.
Update: Below is a translation from the opening Koran reading last Sunday as provided by someone who was present:

Update: Below is a translation from the opening Koran reading last Sunday as provided by someone who was present:
The opening Quran reading at the Town Hall Meeting was from Surah 2:235 Say, "We believe in God and that which is revealed to us; in what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the tribes; to Moses and Jesus and the other prophets by their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them, and to God we have surrendered." What was not included was a couple of lines later which says, "Say, 'Would you dispute with us about God, who is our Lord and your Lord? We shall both be judged by our works.'" Those verses were from Muhammad's first two years in Medina, when he was still trying to reconcile with Jews and Christians. Here is Mohammad's last revealed Surah: "Fight against such of those to whom the Scriptures were given (i.e., Jews and Christians) as believe neither in God nor the Last Day, who do not forbid what God and His apostle (i.e., Muhammad) have forbidden, and do not embrace the true Faith (i.e., Islam) until they tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued. " (9:29)
Defamation? Free Speech?
WND is reporting on a court case in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania involving an atheist, Ernest Perce, who was dressed up as the Prophet Mohammed for Halloween and was assaulted by a Muslim man, Talaag Elbayomy. When the case went to court, the judge, himself a Muslim, threw the case out while admonishing the victim for insulting the defendant's religion. It raises an interesting legal argument, and I hope to get comments from all sides.
The audio that is contained in the link has aroused the ire of the judge, who is threatening to take some sort of action, thus, it may not remain up for long. (Viewer warning: Muslims may find the first video offensive since it actually shows the incident.)
http://www.wnd.com/2012/02/atheist-choked-by-muslim-and-then/
I will be the first to state that professional atheists all too often can be quite offensive in putting down religions. Was this particular atheist acting in an offensive manner? In my view, yes. I never would have done that myself. Was it an exercise in freedom of expression under US laws? Yes, it was.
As I have witnessed all too often at UC Irvine, offensive speech directed at particular groups is protected under our Constitution. That is why radicals like Mohammed al-Asi can stand at UCI and state that "You can take the Jew out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the Jew", as he did several years ago. Nobody arrested al-Asi for saying that, and no Jewish person came out of the audience to knock him on his keester. Had they done so, guess who would have been arrested?
Similarly, when some "artist" displays a jar of urine with Christ on the Cross inside, religious Christians voiced their outrage, but nobody got arrested and nobody got assaulted.
I must confess that when I was a teenager, there was a code, so to speak, that governed our relationships among the boys. If you offended another kid, the result was usually a fistfight. Eventually, we grew up and learned that settling every dispute with a fistfight is not the way to handle problems in the adult world. It is called assault and it's illegal.
What is causing controversy is Judge Martin's lecture to the victim. He seems to be trying to apply some foreign element in US law here when he describes how such conduct could have resulted in the death of Mr. Perce in a Muslim country. Legally, it is irrelevant. That may be acceptable in other countries, but it is not acceptable here. I wonder how the judge would have ruled if Mr Elbayomy had killed Mr Perce. Indeed, there is some question in this story that Elbayomy may have actually thought that Perce was committing a criminal offense.
If Judge Martin believed that there was a lack of proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Elbayomy actually physically assaulted Perce, then he was right to throw out the case. If, however, he was basing his decision solely on Perce's admittedly offensive acts, then the judge is wrong. In fact, in his comments to Perce, he showed that he had his own bias in this matter and probably should have recused himself. Indeed, he stated that he was personally offended by what Perce did.
In the end, legally speaking, it should not matter how seriously Muslims or any other group take their religion. Physical assault is not legal. It doesn't matter if defaming a particular religion in another part of the world is a crime punishable by death. That is not the case in America. If some atheist or any other person started insulting Jesus Christ, I am not legally entitled to assault the guy. If I don't like what his sign says, I am not legally entitled to rip it away from him. That is our law. I wish Judge Martin had given a similar lecture to Mr Elbayomy.
Keep in mind that a case like this comes just as the 56-member nation Organization of the Islamic Conference is trying to push through their "Defamation of "religion" measure, by which the UN would promote such laws through member nations-including ours. Already in Europe, free speech is much more limited than here in the US. Indeed, Perce probably would have been prosecuted in Europe for what he did.
In my view, Perce acted like a jerk on Halloween. Perhaps, on a personal level, I can understand if Elbayomy had actually knocked him on his keester. But it's a legal question at play here involving our laws-not anyone else's.
What do you think? I encourage my Muslim readers to weigh in.

Charles M. Blow Blows it Again
It's not often I get the chance to write about the same obscure columnist within the space of a few days, but New York Times writer Charles M. Blow has broken new ground. It seems Mr. Blow, who is a single-parent, took exception to Mitt Romney speaking out on kids being born out of wedlock, so he tweeted this little nasty-tweet out to all his "followers".
https://twitter.com/#!/CharlesMBlow/status/172500041200705536
Maybe Mr Blow should have been wearing Mr Romney's magic underwear himself. It might have helped him keep it in his pants, so to speak.
Assimilation Problems in Switzerland
"Remove that cross!"
Hat tip to Right Side News
Soeren Kern has written a good summary of the problems Switzerland is facing with immigrants who refuse to assimilate.

I have said it so many times I am blue in the face. Immigration is fine as long as one intends to assimilate. If you are not willing to assimilate and embrace the traditions and values of the adopted country, you should not immigrate in the first place.

Another Academic Supporter of Iran
Hat tip to Campus Watch and Frontpage Magazine
Professor Stephen Zunes-USF
Boob
As the Islamic Republic of Iran prepares to commit its latest atrocity-executing a Christian pastor for the "crime" of leaving Islam, we find yet another apologist for the barbaric regime right smack dab in an American university.
Let's have a test. Geographically speaking, in which state do you think you would be most likely to find such a professor? Would you say, California?
"Uhhhh, yeaaaaah."
You are right! Now, in which city do you think you would find the professor? Would you say, San Francisco?
"Uhhhh, yeaaaah."
Correct again.
So would you guess that, perhaps, the university in question was the University of San Francisco?
"Uhhhh, yeaaaah."
Yes! You are now one question away from one million dollars. In which department would you guess the professor works at USF? Would you say, Middle East Studies?
"Uhhh, yeaaaah."
You have just won the jackpot!
Now for the name of this professor, read the below cross-post from Frontpage Magazine and Campus Watch written by Cinnamon Stillwell and Rima Greene.
http://frontpagemag.com/2012/02/16/iran-as-victim-stephen-zunes-thinks-so/
Yes, folks. Iran is a victim according to Professor Stephen Zunes. Never mind the embassy hostage takeover when the feckless Jimmy Carter was president. Never mind the support for Hamas and Hezbollah. Never mind the persecution of the Baha'i and the gays. Never mind the stonings. Never mind the shooting down of protesters in the streets. Never mind the threat to wipe Israel off the face of the map. Never mind any of that stuff. Iran is a victim.
Where else but academia can you find this kind of perverted thinking?
I have a great idea. Why don't we start up a German history department at USF. We can stack it full of neo-Nazi professors who will argue that Hitler's Germany was a victim of the allies. Remember that Polish attack on the radio station at Gleiwitz that started the war? Remember all those atrocities that the Czechs were carrying out against the Germans in the Sudetenland? Remember all those terrorist attacks committed by German Jews in German cities? I tell you Hitler was a man of peace.
All of which makes as much sense as this boob at USF.
