Hat tip Atlas Shrugs and Times of Israel
I have written so often of the plight of Jews in France and the rest of Europe, I am blue in the face. Yet, how can you stop reporting what the world needs to know? Below is the latest report from Times of Israel on the continuing exodus of French Jews.

The day will come when Europe is finally Judenrein once and for all. No, the Jews will not have been driven out by Europeans; they will be driven out by the intolerant Muslim immigrants Europe allows to replace them. While the Europeans, who should have learned their lesson from the Holocaust, still try to come to grips with their treatment of Jews and express all the proper remorse, they have allowed the dark 1930s to creep once more back onto their continent. Jews today are being treated much like Jews in the 1930s.
But the Jews in Europe won't be around much longer. Come to think of it, either will the other Europeans.
Jews today are being treated much like Jews in the 1930s.
ReplyDeleteHardly. Its neither government policy nor dominant cultural patterns, but the actions of specific individuals. Its more on the level of Poles and Italians throwing rocks at each other across the avenues that separated their respective ghettoes in 1920s Chicago.
Siarlys,
ReplyDeleteIf I am not mistaken, only in Germany in the 1930s was it government policy to persecute Jews. Yet, anti-Semitism was rife in other countries as well. Your Chicago analogy doesn't hold water. In Europe, the Jews are not throwing rocks at anyone. My argument is that european govts today are not enforcing the law sufficiently to protect one minority community. The result is somewhat similar to 1930s Germany where Jews left by the hundreds of thousands. Today, jews are leaving Europe as well to escape the persecution from which they are not being adequately protected. And where is the outrage? Certainly not from Siarlys.
You are indeed mistaken. Only in Germany was anti-Semitism so explicitly codified, and only in Germany was there intention to actually dispossess and eradicate the entire Jewish population permanently. But, anti-Semitism was official policy in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in Poland (where with full official connivance, students at elite universities used to hold "teeth parties" where they mobbed an elderly Jewish man on the street and pulled his teeth out), of the post WW I Hungarian government, and the more conservative Austrian ones (the Jews being influential in the socialist Austrian governments), and who could forget the Dreyfuss affair -- or was that random violence by bigoted individuals?
ReplyDeleteThe difference between the Nazis and other forms of anti-Semitism is that most regimes considered it useful to have some Jews around to periodically dispossess of their wealth, and to serve as scapegoats, but not to eliminate entirely.
Oh, there is a distinct problem that social-democrats who pursue a watered-down dilution of Lenin's focus on the oppressed population of the colonies haven't quite figured out yet that the imperial era ended quite some time ago and flashing "third world" credentials doesn't mean someone is "the good guys."
ReplyDeleteEven finding out that European auto and steel industries are owned by Indians and Chinese hasn't woken them up to the possibility that Arab immigrants might not be brothers under the red banner. They've forgotten Lenin's warning to "beware a pan-Islamic movement masquerading as a national liberation front."
But that hardly constitutes complete impunity, nor does the random acts of members of a specific immigrant population arise to the level of official anti-Semitism. A lot of your alarmist announcements contain the unavoidable fact that the perps are actually being arrested. Poles and Germans fought each other in Chicago too, and in the 1990s, Serbs and Croats threw rocks at each other on the streets of Milwaukee.
