White House spokesman Jay Carney, when asked by reporters for the president's comment, stated only that Texas was George W. Bush's home state, which might explain the high incidence of workplace violence in that state. Carney also stated that President Obama is calling for a blue ribbon commission to investigate why the US military has such a high incidence of workplace violence.
