J Street, Israel Policy Forum, and George Soros
(Strange Cosmos.com)
"I'm pro-Israel."
For anyone wondering if the new Jewish interest group J Street is really pro-Israel (as they claim), perhaps the below-linked articles can help. What is important to recognize is that this organization bears the fingerprints (and money) of none other than George Soros. What he envisioned was a group that would be an alternative to the strongly pro-Israel America-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Working with people like David M. Elcott, head of the Israel Policy Forum (another outfit that claims to support Israel but shows it in strange ways), and others, Soros eventually realized his dream through J Street, which calls itself, "Pro-Israel-Pro-Peace" yet is a harsh critic of the Jewish state and readily supports Palestinian positions. In short, they are a wolf in sheep's clothing.
In the below JTA article from 2006, efforts to establish a Jewish organization that would rival AIPAC are discussed. Note the name George Soros and his involvement. Also note the names Mort Halperin and David M. Elcott.

In November 2006, Daled Amos posted this piece describing the efforts of Soros, David Elcott and others to form this new organization.

In February of 2007, Jacob Laksin wrote the below article, which appeared in Frontpage Magazine. It describes Soros' efforts to establish an organization as a "progressive alternative" to the pro-Israel AIPAC. Note the name David Elcott, who was then head of the Israel Policy Forum.

Here is a column in 2008 by Israel Policy Forum head MJ Rosenberg enthusiastically announcing the formation of J Street.

Below is a list of the J Street advisers.

In the below article from September 2010, Yid With Lid describes how J Street tried to conceal their involvement with Soros.

In September 2010, Yid with Lid posted this piece about how J Street tried to influence Congress to accept the Goldstone Report on Gaza. Some friend of Israel!

Of course, J Street is a favorite of the Obama administration. Obama even appointed J Street official Hannah Rosenthal to serve in the State Department with some sort of portfolio to combat anti-Semitism internationally. The first thing she did was go to Israel and publicly criticize their ambassador to Washington, Michael Oren, because he declined to meet with them. Last I heard she was off attending some conference on Islamophobia.
I don't much care if some Jewish organization wants to support the Palestinian cause as long as they are open about it. Even the little anarchists at Jewish Voice for Peace are clear as to their sentiments. J Street, on the other hand, is dishonest in claiming to be pro-Israel.
One has to ask the question: Is David Elcott any relation to Shalom Elcott? If they are related, then one asks more questions:
ReplyDeleteDoes Shalom Elcott's JFed recieve money from any of the Soros NGO groups?
Does Elcott have the same ideological beliefs as David, if they are related?
If Shalom Elcott is related to David, will the MSU invite him to speak at "Hate-Week"?

You run on at great length repeating the mantra that J-Street is not pro Israel. What you don't do is provide details about exactly what J-Street says. I bet they are smart enough that even if they are NOT pro-Israel, they can put out statement which SOUND pro-Israel. Then, you would need to point out what they DO that BELIES their pro-Israel statements.
ReplyDeleteSo far, all you offer is ad hominem notes about who supports them, and how you don't like those who support them, and insinuate that they are not REALLY pro-Israel. Frankly, I hadn't heard much about them except here, and there is precious little information presented here to make an informed judgment.
As for AIPAC, I definitely favor the American government freeing itself from the pro-Israel PAC's and lobbies to the extent that it is not hostage to the foreign policy of whatever government may be in power in Israel, with a nervous look over its shoulder at "what will Jewish voters do in the next election."
I'm all for cutting all military ties and subsidies UNTIL Israel offers a serious peace accord, with reasonable borders, land swaps, and sharing Jerusalem. Within that context, the IDF should of course be free to pulverize anyone coming over the border.
