"Path to Citizenship"

1940- German Army enters Paris

"Hey Jacques, what are these Germans doing here?"

"I think they're on a fast track to citizenship, Maurice."

"Them or us?"

With everything else going on, Obama still has his eye on "immigration reform", that controversial subject that caused such a furor a couple of years back when Congress backed down in the face of a massive public reaction. Lately in the talk coming out of the Obama Adminstration, that phrase, "path to citizenship" for illegal aliens is coming back into vogue.

Hold on a minute.

Talking about coming up with a humane and sensible solution for our illegal alien issue is one thing. Talking about a path to citizenship is quite a stretch, in my view. First of all, isn't it a little presumptive to assume that any of the estimated 12 million persons in the country illegally have even thought about becoming American citizens? Why are we running from home plate directly from first base?

It seems to me that the first priority is securing our borders-especially in light of the drug smuggling and drug-related violence along the Mexican-US border. Then we should be doing everything possible to identify and deport the criminals and gang-members. Then we can figure out what to do humanely about the honest poor people who come here for economic survival. Talking about "paths to citizenship" is a little premature.

But it is easy to understand why Obama and his party want to get these people to become American citizens. If they could wave a magic wand and declare all 12 million to be American citizens tomorrow, they would. Why?

Votes.

The fact of the matter is that the Democratic party has brainwashed the poor in this country that they are the party that watches out for them (and keeps them poor too).
The Dems know that the vast majority of these folks will register as Democrats and ensure Democratic dominance in politics for generations-possibly to the point of making the US a one-party nation.

But, you say, the Republicans have turned a blind eye to illegal immigration for a different reason-cheap labor for the businesses-good for the economy. Fair enough, but it is becoming increasingly obvious that illegal immigrants are a net loss in term of economics for this country. In terms of income taxes they are not paying, the money they remit to their home countries and the services they require in our schools, hospitals and for some, in our jails and prisons, they represent an economic burden.

Both sides have been complicit, and it is time to bring it to a halt.

Let's figure out a humane solution for the mess we are in instead of trying to fast-track our illegal aliens into brand new voting Democrats.
