Another Biden Appointment That Stinks

Mohamed Hag Magid

President Biden has appointed a prominent Virginia-based imam to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom. He is Mohamed Hag Magid. In the New English Review, Dexter Van Zile paints a disturbing profile of Magid. His article can be viewed here.

Noting that the article states that Magid became head of the Islamic Society of North America, a Muslim Brotherhood-connected organization in 2012, I did some checking on Magid.

I have previously written about the activities of Nonie Darwish, an Egyptian -born apostate from Islam who speaks out against Islam. In 2009 and 2012, her group, Former Muslims United, sent out over 100 letters to prominent Muslim leaders around the US asking them to sign a Freedom Pledge which simply stated that in America, apostates from Islam should not be harmed. Out of the over 100 people who received the letter, I think only two signed it. I note that in 2012, Imam Mohamed Magid, head of ISNA, received the letter with the Freedom Pledge attacked. He did not sign it. The list can be accessed here.

As stated, a  similar letter was sent out in 2009, but I am unable to access that list of addressees.

Several years ago, I personally discussed and delivered another copy of the 2009 letter/pledge to a few Southern California-based leaders who had been recipients. They either claimed never to have received the letter or stated that it was not necessary to sign a pledge since apostates from Islam are not subject to violence or death (according to them).

I find it highly interesting, even beyond what is disclosed about Magid's background in Van Zile's article, that a man who would not sign a simple statement that Muslim apostates in the US should not be harmed is now on a commission representing the United States and religious freedom.

Once again, Joe Biden has appointed a stinker to a high government position.
