Swiss Police Arrest Two Suspects Linked to Vienna Attacker

On Tuesday Swiss police in Winterthur (Canton Zurich) arrested two young men (not identified) who are known Islamists in Switzerland. They are believed to have some connections to the terrorist killed Monday night in Vienna after killing 4 people and wounding 22. The two young suspects arrested Tuesday in Winterthur (Canton Zurich) on the margins of the attack in Vienna Monday evening have been under criminal investigations since 2018 and 2019 for acts linked to terrorism. There has been talk in recent years of several Islamists in Winterthur. The imam of the An'Nur Mosque, now closed, was convicted and deported to Somalia for having called for the deaths of non-practicing Muslims. Other convicted (persons) had ties to the same mosque. One man was sentenced in September to 4 years in prison for having recruited jihadist travelers.
