The Students for Justice in Palestine chapter at UC Irvine has been put on some sort of ridiculous probation for two years after their latest disruption of a pro-Israel event (May 10). Notwithstanding the fact that they have gotten off lightly (again), SJP is appealing the decision. Below is a statement issued by Palestine Legal.

"The chanting broke out after one of the soldiers’ entourage physically assaulted a student."
Really?
Here is the video I took on May 10. It's the second clip (#285). Note that things got out of of hand after I asked (at 2:58) the protesters how many of them had served their country's military (as compared to the IDF reservists). That's when a female protester began screaming at me about the military killing people. A female supporter of the Israelis began yelling at the protester in question and a young black man with glasses (protester) got in front of her moving back and forth to block her path. This is where the alleged assault took place. In my opinion, the view of the two becomes blocked by the moderator trying to restore order, but I could not see more than what may or may not have been incidental contact. That's when the "spontaneous" chant began by the girl who, in my view, was the ringleader of the protesters. Note at the end when she makes a head motion for the others to exit the room.

"We were scared, and the administrators did not intervene, so we spontaneously erupted in a chant. We are appealing this unfair decision.”
Scared of what? They were doing the disrupting. As for the "administrators who did not intervene", only one was present, Asst. Vice Chancellor Edgar Dormitorio (in a blue polo shirt with white horizontal stripes). He was, indeed, trying to keep order including during the face-off between the Israeli supporter and the black male protester. The video I took clearly shows that.
In addition, my video (unlike that produced by Palestine Legal) is unedited and unclipped from the moment the protesters entered the room until they left it.
Finally, the girl leading the chants was the same who the following day spoke at the mock apartheid wall and bragged about disrupting the previous night's event as well as that in May the previous year (May 18, 2016).

The SJP gang must remember that Sharia law is not the law in the land for America. The US Constitution is the law of the land. I suggest that the SJP review the 1st Amendment to thus Constitution before disrupting free speech. I suggest that the victims of the his 1st Amendment violation take these SJP to civil court for relief.
