This week, the Modern Language Association, made up of university language and composition professors is voting on a resolution that is right up their professional alley. That is whether to pass a resolution supporting the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (movement) against Israeli universities. (BDS).
Cary Nelson is a past president of the Association of American University Professors. He has written a long, but very worthwhile essay opposing this measure. I am posting it below.

Hopefully, sanity and decency will reign when this vote is taken, but who can guess? BDS is an anti-Semitic movement that is designed to eliminate the state of Israel.
I predict that the motion will fail.
ReplyDeleteGuess what. It did (fail).
