Well, apparently, they were reciting the wrong Pledge of Allegiance. Our old friend from Oakland, Imam Amir Abdel Malik Ali, demonstrated the "proper" pledge a few years back at UCLA during the Western Regional meeting of the Muslim Students Association.

    Simply disgraceful. She probably won't even be disciplined, let alone terminated as should be the case.

    Strikes me she is doing about what the Jehovah's Witnesses do, and for that matter, what I generally do. Stand, be quiet and respectful, but do not participate in what many of us consider to be an act of idolatry.

    It is no more a proper matter for discipline than it was proper for that photographer in New Mexico to be fined for declining to participate in a same-sex commitment ceremony.
