Yet Another Eric Holder Outrage

If ever a case called out for the death penalty this is it. An off-duty police officer in Virginia abducted and murdered by gang members. It is reported that the killers knew their victim was a cop. For some reason I don't yet know, the case has been turned over to the federal courts. And now, Attorney General Eric Holder has taken the death penalty off the table prior to the trial. When you read and hear the details of this crime, you can only ask, "Why?"

Below is the federal indictment.

I am assuming that the feds took over this case so as to charge these gang members with racketeering in addition to the kidnap and murder of a law enforcement officer and therein lies their jurisdiction. However, for the AG himself to take the death penalty off the table ostensibly because it's too expensive or troublesome is BS. Even if the case is tied up in appeals and litigation, the symbolic worth of demanding the death penalty aside from common justice is overwhelming. Keep in mind that federal appeals in death penalty cases do not last nearly as long as state cases because the state is removed from the judicial process. Tim McVeigh did not spend 15-25 years on death row before he was executed.

Clearly, this is an outrage. No doubt the Virginia authorities regret turning this prosecution over to the Holder Justice Department. I wonder if anyone from the Justice Department has even spoken to the victim's family.

I may be off base in bringing this up, but given Holder's record in racial matters as AG, is it too far out of the realm as to suggest that just maybe Holder is acting as part of his racial agenda?

  1. What a mope!! Good riddance to him. I don't know much about the current nominee, nothing real derogatory has yet come out about her, and I cannot comprehend how she could be any worse and must be better.
