Dems Deny Tammy Duckworth Proxy Vote

Here's a news item that should make all you Democratic feminists really proud of your party. Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), a disabled Iraq war veteran and double amputee who is 8-months pregnant, was denied the right to cast a proxy vote by her party's House leadership....

.....even though she was unable to travel to Washington due to her pregnancy.

"Rules are rules," said Spoker of the House and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Of course, I am sure Nancy could have waived those rules were Duckworth going to vote for Pelosi's favored candidate in the House democratic election.

"Pelosi has repeatedly urged her colleagues to support Rep. Anna Eshoo of California, while Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, the No. 2 ranked Democrat, is putting his weight behind Rep. Frank Pallone of New Jersey. Duckworth also supports Pallone, raising questions about whether Pelosi is in effect blocking a vote against her fellow Californian."

I'm still looking for a reaction from the National Organization for Women about this, but I see nothing on their website. I am not holding my breath.

  1. Tammy is my congresswoman and although I don't agree with her on many issues I was appalled by the actions of the Democratic Party.

    1. Tammy is a triple amputee not double amputee, 8 months pregnant and not able to travel.

    2. Tammy was not going to vote for Pelosi.

I guess that Congresswoman Duckworth should reconsider which party is really having a "War on Women" and vote accordingly.

  2. When has congress EVER allowed "proxy voting"???

I'm all for dumping Pelosi, but its true, the rules ARE the rules.

  3. Didn't the Congress ruled by the Dems change the voting rules to pass Obamacare?
