Ex New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin Convicted of Corruption

Ray Nagin, the flamboyant ex-mayor of New Orleans, was convicted today of charges he took bribes while in office. The period charged included while he presided over the Hurricane Katrina fiasco.

Those who want to lay all the blame on the Katrina tragedy on George W Bush rather than any officials in Louisiana might want to reflect on today's conviction.

  1. Why am I not surprised?? I do believe that of all the places I have lived/worked (8 states, 9 cities),Louisiana in general and New Orleans in particular are the most politically corrupt of all. I believe they may eclipse Chicago and Illinois, although my knowledge of that is not first-hand.
