(Sorry, Toure. I can't find the diacritical accent mark for the "e" in your name today.)
Now that Alec Baldwin has been fired and Martin Bashir has "resigned", it looks like the next MSNBC mad hatter to take a hit is none other than Toure (accent over the "e"). Here is what he had to say about CNN host Don Lemon. (Hat tip Daily Caller)

Classy.
If he'd stopped with cracking a joke about "white on white violence" that would have been cool. I remember years ago remarking to a friend who was exiled from South Africa that the entire Inkatha militia should be airlifted to Yugoslavia for UN peacekeeping duties. I thought that would be a good way to decrease political violence in South Africa, and do some good for Europe at the same time. Moses grinned and said, in the impeccable English accent overlaid with an African intonation that most African and West Indian English speakers use, "Yes, we have to stop the white on white violence."
ReplyDeleteBut, Toure didn't know when to stop. If he suggested that there is nothing particularly "black" about letting your pants sag, etc., i.e., its a bad idea no matter what color you are, if most of the people doing it are black, a whole lot of black people are not... that would have been all good.
But he's essentially saying its "white" to even mention that letting your pants sag is a bad idea... and that qualifies Toure as a bona fide representative of the Ku Klux Klan. This stuff about what it means to "act black" is simply a distillation of all the worst stereotypes of white supremacy, acted out by characters so dumb that they, or the ancestors they inherited their attitude from, believed exactly what massa said about what they were worth.
