On Libya, DOS Wants to Investigate Itself

Just like the Justice Department tactic in Fast and Furious, Hillary Clinton and her State Department are trying to fend off Congressional inquiries about Libya with their own "internal review".

Can anyone see what is going on here, especially in light of a pending election? What we will see now is stonewalling "since the matter is under on-going investigation", delay until after the election, and finding a convenient scapegoat who will fall on his or her sword-to protect the department, the administration, and, of course, Hillary herself. We have already seen it play out with Eric Holder's Justice Department.

Once again, we see a department's feckless incompetence result in multiple deaths. Once again, we see lies and cover-ups.

You know what else we will see four years from now? We will see the vain-glorious Hillary Clinton running for president based on her "great" performance as Secretary of State.

  1. Anyone trying to make this an Instant Election Issue when

    1) we don't have all the facts sitting in neat little rows,

    and,

    2) there obviously those who are more interested in "how many points can we swing in the polls if we play this right?" than in "What happened?"

deserves ostracism and ignominy by anyone of integrity or moral character.

My rough guess: There were errors made which would be embarrassing, after the fact, to anyone responsible, and, they were not of such character as to be plainly forseeable.

The real story here is that a militia of about 125 armed men thought they could seize the initiative and cover themselves with anti-American glory, and instead they stirred up a hornet nest that got them at least partially dispersed and badly discredited with the population they claimed to represent.

In diplomacy, its the long term that counts.
