Obama Dodges Questions About Benghazi

Hat tip Twitchy.com

Earlier today, I posted the White House schedule. It consisted mostly of presidential interviews. Apparently, those interviews did not go well for President Obama-at least as far as the topic of Benghazi was concerned.

The video of the interview by a Denver reporter is here (TV 9 News-Denver).

  1. I doubt very much that a thorough and complete investigation will reveal malfeasance or deliberate disregard for the safety of the personnel involved. I don't believe any subject as serious as this should be handled by instant news bytes, which are always based on incomplete information. Further, we may not want our government to speak publicly on how much they know, when those we are going to bring to justice certainly follow our news media.

But I do think the administration has handled this poorly, in the same furtive way they mishandled the Shirley Sherrod matter a couple of years back.

As we now know, Breitbart's report was a cold-blooded lie, upended when the "white couple" Sherrod supposedly failed to help, came forward to say Shirely is our best friend, she's the one who saved our farm, they are not treating her right. O'Reilly had the balls to say he owed her an apology, he hadn't done his homework.

But the administration did not cover itself in glory. They were afraid of their own shadow. Instead of standing up for an unfairly maligned agriculture department official, at the first whiff of trouble they turned on her. At least, some White House aide called Sherrod on her cell phone, saying 'This is going to be on Glenn Beck, we want your resignation right away.'

In short, whether is smoke and mirrors, or smoke that means fire, too many of the people around the president are reacting to the unfavorable publicity, even unfounded, rather than calmly and methodically demanding the truth. It doesn't even matter when the truth IS on their side, they shy away.

I can't say anyone else in politics exhibits a higher standard, but I expected better from this administration. And they could do better for themselves, because, in general, I believe the truth would put the president ahead in the polls, if he would stop listening to the campaign "experts" and just be himself.

  2. What Obama should have said:

  3. Anybody who has served in the military will tell you that the most despised people of all are the "bug outs"... those who are not there when you need them and, even worse, those who do not do everything they can to save you even at the risk of their own lives.
The military works very hard to instill in each person the notion that everyone else depends on them.
The cardinal rule for officers is "Make sound and timely decisions."

This president and this administration has failed on all counts. This attack lasted 7 hours!
Why wasn't it secured BEFORE the attack after repeated attacks and the significance of the date... and the requests of those on the scene?

Why wasn't there aid sent immediately once the attack started. We have helicopters, planes, there and a base in Sicily, just a couple of hours away. A platoon of infantry with BAYONETS would have turned that attack around, not to mention the tremendous firepower they have. A low range flyover with a sonic boom would have or could have made a change.
Why did they LIE about it for two weeks afterward? Obama denounced a video SIX times before the U.N. as though that was the cause and as far as I know it is still his position. This answer I know... he did not and still does not to show that his foreign policy of sucking up to the Muslims has failed. There were riots in 31 countries against us. They were chanting "We are ALL Osama, Obama" outside our embassy in Cairo.

This is what you get when you put an amateur liberal into the most demanding job in the world. He'd prefer to party with JayZ and appear on the View.

And there will still be fools who vote for him! Amazing stupidity.

  4. Yeah Miggie, nobody in the Arab world demonstrated against us when George W. Bush was president. Either he loved them to death or scared them straight or something, but it was all peace and quiet, especially on September 11, 2001, the day nothing much happened.
