Janet Napolitano's Hand-Picked Chief of Staff Resigns

Suzanne Barr, who was at the center of one of the scandals at the Department of Homeland Security, has resigned in the face of accusations of inappropriate behavior.

Ms Barr says the accusations are false, and I will leave it at that. The importance of this mess is that it once again calls into question the judgement of Janet Napolitano, who brought Barr into DHS.

A reasonable observer can only conclude that under Napolitano, DHS is a sorry mess. It is incompetent, and the morale among the rank and file agents is low. Her connection to Operation Fast and Furious is a disgrace. The fact is that DHS was involved in the ATF's insane operation which led to the death of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry and possibly the death of ICE agent Jaime Zapata as well-both of whom worked for Napolitano. And by her own sworn statement to Congress, Napolitano has had no discussion with Attorney General Eric Holder about Fast and Furious since the scandal broke. It is beyond comprehension.

The mission of this department is too crucial for it to continue under the leadership of this inept woman.
