Adam Gadahn and the Abbottabad Documents

Who in al Qaeda has Gadahn's back?

Hat tip CTC Sentinel

The raid that killed Usama bin Laden also resulted in the seizure of a treasure trove of documents. One of those was a 21-page letter written by American al Qaeda fugitive Adam Gadahn. In the below-linked document from CTC Sentinel, Brian Dodwell describes the criticisms made by Gadahn toward al Qaeda affiliates for killing innocent Muslims in their attacks, refers to Gadahn's criticism of Ayman al Zawahiri ( bin Laden's apparent successor) and speculates about Gadahn's influence and position in al Qaeda since bin Laden's death.

Indeed, Gadahn has been the subject of much speculation over the past couple of years. One site, Amir the Animator (linked on Fousesquawk), produced a series of humorous animations implying that Gadahn was an informant for the Americans-even supplying the tip that led to the finding and killing of bin Laden.

I would not envy Gadahn if he falls out of favor with that bunch. A drone missile would be an act of mercy.
