CAIR is Going After Newt

Hat tip Karen Lugo, National Review and CNS News

Not surprisingly, the whiners at CAIR are attacking Newt Gingrich for his statement about having a Muslim president.

In the below National Review article, Andrew McCarthy, who knows a thing or two about radical Islamists, comes to Newt's defense.

Now let's hear from Zuhdi Jasser, a true Muslim moderate, as he defends Gingrich:

Zuhdi Jasser and the American Islamic Leadership Coalition are Muslims that we can truly embrace and should support. They know as well as McCarthy that there are dangerous people out there who want to do us harm. They also know that CAIR and a bunch of other so-called moderate organizations are nothing more than subversive radicals engaging in stealth jihad.

I would love nothing more than to see Gingrich, in his usual style, tell CAIR where they can go.

  1. I'd like to see a debate on this between J.Z. and Colin Powell. I was inspired by Powell's statement that Barack Obama is not a Muslim, he's a Christian, "but so what if he was? That's not America."

Once you start choosing and picking which Muslims "we should embrace," you have sacrificed your own integrity in the eyes of those you so graciously agree to pick and choose among.

Rather than pinning "good Muslim" labels on anyone, we should be dispassionately enforcing applicable law on all, whatever their faith.

None of us are quite old enough to remember when newspapers used to run headlines like "Negro held on rape charge." Oh no, of course the news editor didn't mean to imply that all Negroes are rapists, but the mobs that went to the Negro side of town to wreak havoc and burn down homes didn't know that.

  2. Siarlys,

Let me pick and choose a couple of examples.

If Zuhdi Jasser were running for president, I would vote for him if he agreed with my general views. I don't know if he is liberal or conservative on other issues.

    Keith Ellison? No way.

  3. However, Keith Ellison was elected in a Christian-majority district, with more Jewish than Muslim voters. THAT is something we should be boosting throughout the Muslim world, because it is not how the Salafists think of politics.
