It's refreshing to see that somebody in Washington is willing to stand up and speak on behalf of Israel. That person is John Boehner.

I've learned quite some time ago that, contrary to popular belief, not all American Jews support Israel. For those that do (and I'm not suggesting that is their primary issue), I think it is becoming obvious which party really supports Israel and which only gives it lip service. Obama has shown nothing but contempt for Israel while sucking up shamefully to Israel's enemies.
I look for a dramatic shift in the Jewish vote next year.
John Boehner has sold out the USA to a foreign power.
ReplyDeleteIs that a bit of an exaggeration? Of course. But Boehner has not particular interest in Israel, except that he hopes to increase his powerful and influence by talking this way. Israel has no particular interest in the USA, except that it is a useful source of money and military supplies. Remember Jonathan Pollard? His assignment meant no more and no less than, Israel knows it and the U.S. are only allies of convenience.
All that said, of course we should sustain Israel's existence. But Israel, like the "too big to fail" banks, has come to smugly assume they can do anything they want and we will foot the bill. We shouldn't. They should foot their own bill when they dillydally and procrastinate.
The British Mandate of Palestine was to be partitioned, not signed over lock stock and barrel. The Arabs didn't get to have everything their way. Israel should not expect to either.
There is not a single country in the world that is a better ally to the US than Israel! If you take the percentage of times it votes with and supports America's diplomatic efforts, it is higher than England, Australia and even Canada.
ReplyDeleteWe share weapons technology, back and forth equally as well as intelligence.
Israel is a beleaguered tiny country in a sea of countries that are hostile to the US and our culture and democratic values.
We are intertwined in development companies on the stock markets, as well as in all forms of computer, medical, and advanced technology. Our political aims and aspirations coincide.
The American people are overwhelmingly supportive of Israel and it is entirely appropriate for an elected official to publicly acknowledge it.
Obama and the Left world wide of course, don't believe that the US (or Israel) are exceptional countries and are hostile to both. Many of the Jews who were stupid enough to support an affirmative action president because liberal politics were so ingrained in them that they ignored the warning signs along the way (Rev. Wright, Billy Ayers, etc.) have at long last seen the light and will not vote for Obama next time around. They will not support them with their money, their political endorsement, or their IQ points.
There is a long time to go before the election and a lot can happened but Obama and his administration have demonstrated their hostility personally and publicly. It would take a miracle to recover and I don't think Obama can do it, even if he wanted to.
.
Obama has demonstrated no hostility to Israel whatsoever. Miggie sounds (on behalf of Israel) like the little boy crying "Wah! Mommy won't give me a third piece of cake and wants me to clean up my room!"
ReplyDeleteIsrael has a good sense of realpolitik. It has no compunction about bombing our naval ships, or recruiting spies within our government, because it knows its interests are not IDENTICAL to those of the United States, no matter how useful we have been to each other.
No doubt we have spies in THEIR government too.
In 1947, the UN voted to partition the former British Mandate of Palestine. The Arabic powers surrounding the territory in question defied the division, and lost. Too bad for them. That left Israel with somewhat MORE of the territory than the original division provided. That's life.
Today, Israel has only to foster the emergence of the other state contemplated by the original UN resolution, on the remaining territory of the Former British Mandate, and the spasms of angry violence will subside as people busy building their own businesses will tire of throwing rocks and waiting in line at checkpoints.
