California Set to Pass DREAM Act

Gil Cedillo (One Bill Gil*) has introduced his own version of a California DREAM Act bill that would provide tax-payer money to fund scholarships to illegal alien college students. It has just passed the State Assembly and could be voted on in the State Senate as early as today. It would then be signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown ( 2011 AB 131).

Just what we need in a time of recession, right? Now our state taxes will go to provide scholarships and other services to illegal aliens in college-filling seats that citizens and legal aliens can't get.

For details go to John and Ken Show.

  1. Thanks to "one bill Gil", Jerry, and the rest of the bleeding heart liberals for their lack of insight into what Californians really need. We do not need to encourage illegal immigration to California. We do not need to fill our classes with illegal aliens who will make it difficult for Californians to get college degrees.
My daughter is seeking a BA at a local State University. Instead of a two year program, she will have to stay for three years because of over-crowding,without the "Dream" act. Now, who knows how long it will take for her to finish.

  5. Why shouldn't they get scholarships? If this state law does track the DREAM act, as Mr. Fouse asserts after diligent research and comparison of legal language, then it is all about people who have grown up in the USA from a young age, know no other homeland, and if they've been here that long, their parents have been paying taxes, as will these young people when they graduate. What does the fact that other people ALSO pay taxes, or that there is a recession going on, have to do with it?

Now if you were talking about people who just slipped across the border at age 17 to qualify for a scholarship, that would be a whole different kettle of fish. But you are not.

  6. Most illegal aliens in Calif don't pay much in taxes. Many of their jobs are paid in cash and since they are still pretty poor, they don't pay much in sales taxes. Few own property, so they don't pay property taxes.

  7. Foreman and Siaryls,

Why don't the illegal aliens particiate in the Mexican Dream Act? Do you have an answer to this question?

  8. I don't think we are looking at the real issue.. OUR Laws in which we are govern by states that you can not come into the country illegally, it does not stipulate what age you are when you came here the only stipulation is your status "illegal".(that includes the parents which may have been the culprit) The bottom line is this someone has broken the law, this law is soley based upon your status when you enter and how you enter our country. If this laws is broken we have an obligation to ourselves and our country too enforce it.. And if we do not enforce this law.. guess what shame on us... We then becomes an enabler and part of the problem, we now are rewarding them for breaking our laws/bad behavior.., then who's too say when they find another one of our laws that they deem unfavorable to them they will override it as well.. I will say this if there are no standards such as laws, they will not respect you nor, the country that you live in, its just that simple..
I pose this question too you think about this... what happens to the people that have abided by the immigration guide lines/laws? Do they now get push to the back of the line because they followed protocol? Or do they inturn think what a joke we are as a nation I did what was required now they have double standards!! I find when you really want something that others have you do all you can to obtain and conformed too their ways... what you don't want to do is to force them to conform to your way.. The laws breakers has gotten a group of people to rally around them and they are now demanding us to change our laws... I don't think any one wants to be forced into changing the very fiber of who they are, and what they believe in and stands for..If we allow this nonsense to happen...I can see our future now we will be changing everytime someone doesn't like what we have...they really do not know what our democracy is all about and what makes us a great nation, it's (WE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE). If we allow them (the illegal immigrants) to dictate to us what they wants are and we(The American People) accommendate them, and grant them their wishes..(GOD HELP AMERICA) we might as well get rid of all our rules and laws, because they are not worth the paper they are written on there will be no foundation...If this happen We can brace ourselve and wait for the next group with their demands.. You can justify/dress it up all you want, you can say it is the color of their skin and, we are all immigrants etc; once upon time that statement was true... (however what are you going to do with the written law?) Since then (the primitive age of America) we have formulated/blended our forces together and formed a union, established ourselves and adopted principles and laws too govern this great county by, so we have to live by those rules.. good bad or indifference we can not go backward ...The primary reason for any Immgrants/foreigners that are here or desires to be here is basically the opportunities in which we have to offer and what our nation as a whole stands for ..they admired and want a piece of the American Dream or should I say what is left!!!..Well guess what "OUR LAWS is the very core/essence to who we are.. you can't have one without the other it does not work that way.. There is an old cliche that say "When you are in Rome you do as the Romans" that rule still applies.. Again I say what you don't do is choose which one of their rules you want to particpate in.. Entering their country illegally or having a illegal immigrantion rallly to get people sympathy and you have purpose in your heart to blatantly refused to speak our language.. That's like putting the carriage before the horse...

  9. V. Shy: if you could learn to write English properly, you could make your point with much less verbiage. Any law may be tempered with mercy if the sovereign people wish to do so. Although Fouse and Squid do not wish to do so, apparently a sufficient portion of the electorate do, because they elect legislators who are prepared to do so.

Gary: Anytime your sons and daughters are threatened with deportation, despite the fact that they grew up in this country and know no other home, I will certainly support a DREAM act to save them from deportation.

Squid: You are assuming that all aliens who entered this country illegally are from Mexico. They also come from Guatemala, Afghanistan, China, Nigeria, and a host of other nations. The point is not where they came from, but the fact that those this law applies to individuals who have grown up in the USA, and are familiar with no other nation as "home."

Gary: What you say about who pays how much taxes could apply to millions of native-born Americans. And as a tenant of a modest unit in an 18-unit building, I assure you that landlords make sure the rent includes enough to cover the taxes, as well as the mortgage, insurance, and something left over for their trouble. So tenants do pay taxes -- that is why property tax rebates on state income tax applies (with a slightly different formula) to tenants as well as homeowners.
