University of Iowa Professor Says "F----You" to College Republicans

Professor Ellen Lewin

I just finished hearing about this on Greta Van Susteren's show on Fox. Here is the report from the Daily Iowan.

http://www.dailyiowan.com/2011/04/27/Metro/23145.html

So a University of Iowa professor of GENDER STUDIES (Surprise) sends an e-mail to a college co-ed saying, "F----You, GOP". How nice. How professional.

Of course to the ultra-liberal Association of American University Professors, it's no biggie.

Here is Lewin's bio from the university.

http://www.uiowa.edu/~anthro/lewin.shtml

"Ellen Lewin’s major research interests center on motherhood, reproduction, and sexuality, particularly as these are played out in American cultures. Over the course of her career, she has completed studies that focus on low-income Latina immigrants in San Francisco, lesbian mothers, and lesbian and gay commitment ceremonies in the US. She is now writing a book on gay fathers-men who have fathered or adopted children either on their own or with male co-parents or who became parents during earlier heterosexual unions"

Important stuff.

  1. Here’s an interview with University of Iowa Professors Timothy Hagle and Kembrew McLeod, Matt Sowada, the conservative co-host of the political talk radio show American Reason on KRUI, and Rod Sullivan from the Johnson County Board of Supervisors about Professor Ellen Lewin’s “F— You, Republicans!” email response to the University of Iowa College Republicans campus-wide invite for people to participate in “Conservative Coming Out Week.”

lucky for me , my college major would not have recognized Lewin as a credible person but more a person with a big chip on her shoulder. why do mediocre scholars find recognition in the fringe academics where solid research, philosophy are dismissed and inflammatory opinions propped up with slim anecdotal evidence from co-firngies used to promote their thesis

  3. Fortunately, Professor Ellen Lewin is not related to the famous Kurt Lewin, who was at the University of Iowa from 1935 to 1944. Kurt Lewin developed the "Force Field Analysis" which added to social psychology. Most important, Kurt Lewin promoted experimental psychology and the use of the "hypothesis" to conduct research. This is real, hard science, not comparitive whatever it is.

I think this woman is probably off her rocker. She should have learned to drive a truck or run a cash register. She then might have been useful to society.

  5. Maybe, given the fields of specialization listed in her bio, the professor was wishing the young lady a happy motherhood at an early age. You know, certain steps are prerequisite to pregnancy...

...OK, that's giving her too much benefit of the doubt. The dowager is showing another case of heavy handedness when a light touch would have done a better job:

"Coming Out Week? What happened, are you having gay envy, poor little darlings? All the media in the rest of the country are talking about how Republicans and Conservatives dominate Iowa, except when they were talking about how Iowa caucuses showed white voters would support Barack Obama. Well, if you've been hiding in a cave like the troglodytes some liberals say you are, come on out into the marvelous light dears, and let's see if you can handle it. But be careful if it rains... we wouldn't want you all to melt, would we?"
