There was one man in Arizona who thought that sharia law should be enforced in the US. That would be Faleh Almaleki from Iraq, who ran down and killed his daughter, Noor, for supposedly "dishonoring" him and his family with her Western ways. This week, he learned that sharia doesn't apply in the US. He got 34.5 years to think it over in prison, where I suspect Mr Almaleki will learn they have their own "sharia code" for guys who murder their daughters.
Right on all counts Gary. The way to treat this misconception is not mindless picketing of perfectly legal religious edifices (whether in Murfreesboro or in Manhattan). It is, quite simply, to prosecute for homicide those who commit homicide, and publicize widely the fact that this is the law in the United States. There are no exceptions for religious motivation, whether, Muslim, Fundamentalist Mormon (FLDS), or Brazilian Roman Catholic.
