MSNBC Interviews LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa for No Clear Reason

MSNBC has once again proven what an inept news organization it is today when anchor Carlos Watson and Richard Wolffe (that's with 2 "f"s)interviewed Los Angeles playboy Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (Tony Villar) and asked his opinion of how California can get out of the cash crisis it finds itself in (above).

First of all, you don't ask Villaraigosa this question. He has nothing to do with the state budget. He is the mayor of Los Angeles, a city he is rapidly running into the ground with its own $550 million deficit. So he's the wrong guy to ask-especially since he has just returned from his big trip to South Africa with local KTLA news anchor, Lu Parker (his girlfriend) and announced that the city must pick up the $3-4 million tab for the Michael Jackson extravaganza that took place while he was on the other side of the world. Of course, Villar might just have a conflict of interest since Philip Anshutz, the honcho of AEG, which put on the Jackson tribute, has financial links to the outfit that paid for the mayor's big African boondoggle.

Of course, in his responses to Watson's questions, Villar split it right down the middle, talking about cuts and raising revenue (taxes). Never mind that California already has the highest income tax, highest sales tax, and highest gas tax in the nation; it's never enough.

"Make it more!"

Villar went on to criticize those lawmakers in Sacramento (Republicans) who were refusing to raise taxes. He also criticized the two-thirds rule required to raise taxes in California.

MSNBC and Antonio Villaraigosa. Just goes to show there is a lid for every pot.

* If you are wondering about the Tony Villar stuff, that is the name he was born with. When he married his ex-wife, whose maiden name was Raigosa, he changed his name to Villaraigosa. Then he became involved in a love affair with local Telemundo anchor Mirthala Salinas, who was actually assigned to cover the mayor. That led to the breakup of his marriage when his wife found out and dumped him. Now his current girlfriend is KTLA reporter Lu Parker. (Tony likes those news types.)

  1. It looks like Villaraigosa is going to run for Governor. If he wins he will make Arnold look like Scrooge.

  4. In a public press conference a few weeks ago, Tony V said he will not be running for Governor.

Why MSNBC would interview the guy who bankrupted the City of Los Angeles about money is beyond me.
