Barbara Boxer Gets Her Come-Uppance

The above video is precious. Henry Alford, head of the National Black Chamber of Commerce, lets Barbara Boxer have it when she tries to throw a resolution of the NAACP regarding climate change in his face. This is what happens when an inferior intellect runs into a superior intellect who refuses to kow-tow.

Note how Alford makes it a point to address Boxer as "Ma'am" instead of "Senator". Note how she doesn't have the "cojones" to scold him and insist he call her "Senator" like she did with that unfortunate general.

By the way, who is the frumpy-looking Boxer aide who timidly attempts to pass information to her while she is droning on and on?

Finally, who cares what the NAACP thinks about climate change? Does that resolution reflect the views of all its members? And who cares what the head of "100 Black Men in Atlanta" (whatever that is) thinks about climate change? As my late father used to say, "Where does he tend bar?"

The fact of the matter is that Barbara Boxer is an arrogant idiot. Kudos to Mr Alford for illustrating that fact.

  1. Linnea,

Thanks for sending me this. You are correct; liberals treat minorities, especial;ly blacks like....instead of pets, I would say children. And yes, it is condescending and racist in its own way. What they are saying is that blacks cannot achieve on their own without the patronage of white liberals. How insulting.

So here comes this guy Alford with a different point of view, and she starts hitting him with what the NAACP said (about global warming). Like that is supposed to shut him up.

I also find it outrageous how black conservatives are treated for daring to think differently than the liberal party line.

  2. Speaking of hearings, I hope that you'll share more of your thoughts on the the Sotomayor process. In my view it was a complete waste of time. Instead of hearing her views on a variety of important issues, we listened to evasive answers, coached responses, and at the end of the day we really had nothing. The LA Times today reported that the confirmation hearings were going "smoothly." Well, when nothing of substance comes out of her mouth, I suppose that one could interpet the sham as going smoothly. All very disappointing.

  3. Since when is the NAACP the alpha and omega of Black organizations? Here was the head of the National Black Chamber of Commerce and Sen. Boxer treated him with contempt.

This is typical liberal behavior towards Blacks.

  4. Findalis,

Correctamundo. Except when blacks go against the liberal grain.

  5. Anonymous,

Right on. It was a dance. The process is well established. The nominee will not comment on abortion view because "it will come before the court". Sotomayor's nstrategy was to avoid any gaffes. She palyed it safe right down the middle. The Republicans are asking the questions they have to ask but at the end of the day, they will decide who can vote against her to plesase the conservative base and who should vote for her to avoid offending Hispanics.

My position is that they should not treat her like they treated Estrada or Thomas, give her a straight up or down vote, but I would vote no.

  6. Where has Anonymous been for the last 20+ years? With the exception of Bork, this is how every Supreme Court nominee hearing has gone. Alito and Roberts were the same way. Evasiveness and vague answers are par for the course now, and it's very rare that the Senate doesn't ultimately approve the nominee. It's pretty much just grandstanding (by both parties) and formality now.

  7. Bryan,

Except for Bork, Clarence Thaomas, Miguel Estrada and janice Rogers Brown (the latter two were up for court of appeals).
