The model of Berlin by Albert Speer was not meant to compare our government with Nazis. Rather it was to make the point that our govt is becoming..what is the word...grandious?
Get it?
Lance,
I gather you drew the same conclusion. C'mon, you guys are more sophisticated than that!
Strange that I must confess that as many times as I have seen the word "obtuse", I will have to look it up in the dictionary to see what it actually means.
But you are also guilty of completely misinterpreting the reason why I chose Albert Speer's model of a future Berlin to make my point. It was not to compare the current govt to Nazis rather to show the onscene growth of govt to monumental proportions.
Come on, Gary. Is Albert Spier REALLY the only example of grandious architecture that you could think of?
You're playing kids games by showing that example and then denying that you were making any connections to the Nazis. Trust me, I know them when I see them.
Gary, just what government do you blame for the mess we're in? Did all this happen in the last three months, and how do you know it won't work? History does not repeat itself, time always creates new problems and needs to be dealt with in a new way.
OK, how does the post look now without the mention of Speer's model? Maybe I did unwittingly plant a seed in the minds of the readers that I did not intend, so I took the caption out.
No it didn't happen in the last three months. I have written of the role of Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, and Chris Dodd in this mess. Bush was indeed president then. A few short years ago, Republicans in Congress were sounding the alarm on the unsound practices of Fannie Mae and Freddie mac. The Dems (Frank, Waters et al) rushed to their defense and protected them. Read up on the history of the Community Reinvestment Act.
Poor President Bush, it wasn't his fault, Maxine Waters and Barney Frank were in charge of the country for the last EIGHT YEARS. Or the TWELVE years that the Republicans controlled Congress. It wasn't their fault then, either!
Not even 100 days into a Democrat-controlled federal government and you're already calling them Nazis. Nice.
ReplyDeleteOkay, Gary, time to get some new villains in history to make your comparisons. You're abusing this one beyond all meaning.
ReplyDeleteBryan,

And Gary, you're too smart to make such an obtuse denial.
ReplyDeleteEvery time you bring up the Nazis in the same blog as the Obama administration, a puppy dies.

So bring that puppy back to life.

ReplyDeleteBryan,
ReplyDeleteEverybody shares the blame, but you need to brush up on Barney Frank's role. Look up Chris Dodd's contributions list. It's online.
Look up the history of the Community Reinvestment Act.
(Actually, it was all Rush Limbaugh's fault.)
