Germany: Teacher Assaulted by Student Over Palestinian Flag

Not unexpectedly, the conflict in Israel is being played out in streets and educational institutions in Europe and the US. Berlin, which is already dealing with rock-throwing pro-Palestinian demonstrators, has also had an incident this week at a secondary school in the Neukoelln district. A student came to school with a Palestinian flag, and a fight ensued with a teacher. According to a Swiss news outlet, Blick, the teacher asked the student to remove the flag and was reportedly head-butted by another student, who was, in turn, slapped by the teacher. Police had to be called in. Now Berlin police have had to break up demonstrations in front of the school by the students and their parents.

After a fight in a school, several dozen people gathered for a pro-Palestinian demonstration. Police intervened.

Berlin police banned a demonstration in front of the Ernst-Abbe School in Neukoelln. About 60 people came to the demonstration, among them students, and their parents as well. The police had to contend with the heated atmosphere with 150 officers.

Ernst-Abbe School: Conflict between student and teacher

At the Arnst-Abbe School on Sonnenallee (street), a student showed up on Monday with a Palestinian flag, whereupon there was a violent confrontation with a teacher. The demonstration planned for Wednesday was initiated by the parents. The Berlin police had safety concerns.

In addition, a Palestinian demonstration planned for Wednesday afternoon was banned by police because it represented a danger to public safety and order. This concerns the current situation in the Middle East and crimes at previous demonstrations. On Saturday, the pro-Palestinian network Samidoun celebrated the attack against Israel on a street in Neukoelln. (With German Press Agency)
