Two days after the macabre discovery of a dismembered woman in the Buttes-Chaumont park in Paris (19th district), the investigation has made a major advance. According to our information, the investigators of the Criminal Brigade have been able to identify the victim through her fingerprints.

Of North African origin, the disappearance of this 46-year-old woman had been reported on February 6. She was residing in Seine-Saint-Denis. The case had been assigned to investigators of the Brigade for Repression of Crimes Against Persons (BRDP), but no information had led to finding her.

Her disappearance had been reported to the police by her husband

It was her husband who had alerted the police station in the municipality. "There was nothing about this couple to associate them with any criminal activity," a source close to the case stressed. The officers of the Criminal Brigade are now concentrating on the background of the victim to try and understand why and by whom she was killed.

On Monday afternoon, the woman's pelvis was discovered by maintenance workers. She was wearing blue jeans with a flower design. Tuesday, a search was organized in and around this large green space in the 19th District of the capital to find the rest of her body.

The discovery of the hands and the head, in particular, on a railroad track located at the eastern entrance of the garden allowed police forensic technicians to know with certainty that this woman was the one who disappeared. But for now, the police do not yet know when the crime was committed. The autopsy, which should take place in the coming hours, should reveal more.
