"Good news, mein Fuehrer. We've just shot down that Soviet spy balloon."
So President Biden has finally ordered the shootdown of that Chinese spy balloon. After it spent a week over the US, coast to coast, passing over sensitive military installations, and sending its data back to Beijing in real-time, the balloon is finally coming down as I write. In reality, this thing should have been taken down as soon as it was detected, at least when it was over unpopulated areas like the Alaskan coast, Montana, Kansas, or North Dakota.
Make no mistake: This is a test of Biden by China. Biden has failed the test.
I can't wait to hear how Biden is going to explain this one away. The upcoming State of the Union should be great theater.
Could you please post a link to all the times you wrote about China testing the Trump administration with spy balloons? Because the military has confirmed that it happened a few times.

Only Trump didn't have them shot down.
I tell ya, the right wing reaction to this has been quite entertaining.
I think this will answer your question.

If Chinese balloons crossed our air space during Trump's tenure and were not detected or he wasn't advised, by all means someone failed.
But if you think Biden doesn't deserve criticism for allowing this balloon to traverse the entire country and send info back to China, I can't help ya.
The article you shared quotes an anonymous source that's downplaying what happened under Trump. It's pure propaganda.
ReplyDeleteBut let's get to the heart of the matter. To quote you:
"Make no mistake: This is a test of Biden by China. Biden has failed the test."
If it was a "test" on the part of the Chinese, then they also tested Trump, and his failure is even worse. (Didn't even know about it?)
Just admit that you got caught up in the right-wing spin cycle and repeated what you heard before having all the facts. We all do it from time to time.
We don't all admit it though.
Help me out here. I am confused (LOL).
ReplyDeleteSince you have dismissed the anonymous source in the right-wing spin cycle (Fox News), I have chosen one from the left-wing spin cycle, CNN.

Amid all the finger-pointing, the anonymous source in the Fox article is apparently, a Biden administration official or a current Defense Dept. official.
By either account, it would appear (who really knows the truth at this point?) that the Chinese sent a balloon across the US at least three times during the Trump administration that was never detected or known about until after Biden took office. I guess that's why Trump said it never happened. I will be the first to concede that if all this is accurate, intelligence under Trump failed in their mission. Shame on them.
But to get to the heart of the matter, I stand by my point that Biden failed the test because he was advised about it early on and allowed it to sail across the US merrily surveilling our most sensitive military bases until it reached the balmy waters of the coast off South Carolina when it was shot down. Meanwhile, every image it recorded across the US was sent back to Beijing in real time. At least it never got to Bermuda.
Choose whatever spin cycle you want. Biden blew it. He sent a message to the Chinese that we are weak.
Speaking of anonymous sources, who are you to attack anonymous sources, Anonymous?
