The police searched the surrounding fields and woods by helicopter for the fleeing man.

According to a police broadcast, initially, a 32-year-old asylum-seeker from Somalia was arrested. He resisted violently and slightly injured a policewoman. He was able to flee into a nearby patch of woods shortly beforehand.
Since the Afghan had a Stanley knife, the Cobra Task Force, SIG Forces, a police helicopter, a drone team, and a service dog handler, as well as several district patrols were also used in the search. Based on a tip from the asylum center, the fugitive was finally arrested shortly before 1600 in the esplanade in Gmunden, and then taken to the police detention center in Linz.
