Austria: Double Deportation-Double Trouble

One policewoman was injured when authorities attempted to pick up an Afghan and a Somali for deportation. The Somali guy fought back and injured the cop. The Afghan fled into the woods and was later arrested after police had to deploy a helicopter, police dog, and special forces. Now both will be deported.

"Yee gads!"

Deportation escalated- Policewoman injured in neck

Deportation of two men on Monday in Ohlsdorf (Gmunden District) escalates: A policewoman was injured in the neck.

At noon, authorities were executing a deportation order against a Somali and an Afghan (26). (The latter) fled,  the (former) resisted arrest and attacked the officer.

The police searched the surrounding fields and woods by helicopter for the fleeing man.

He was finally found in Gmunden, a few kilometers away, and will now be deported as planned, reported District Police Commander Gerhard Steiger in a conversation with a district news program.

Policewoman fortunately only lightly injured

According to a police broadcast, initially, a 32-year-old asylum-seeker from Somalia was arrested. He resisted violently and slightly injured a policewoman. Then the authorities tried to arrest a second asylum-seeker, a 26-year-old who reportedly became physical in the course of the action. He was able to flee into a nearby patch of woods shortly beforehand.

Since the  Afghan had a Stanley knife, the Cobra Task Force, SIG Forces, a police helicopter, a drone team, and a service dog handler, as well as several district patrols were also used in the search. Based on a tip from the asylum center, the fugitive was finally arrested shortly before 1600 in the esplanade in Gmunden, and then taken to the police detention center in Linz. There is the presumption of innocence.
