Rashida Tlaib's Latest Outrageous Demand

This article first appeared in Times of Israel Blogs.

US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) is a Palestinian-American and anti-Semite with a long list of outrageous actions and comments-too long to list here. I will just say that she is an embarrassment to her party, the US Congress, and her constituents, who put her in office. Now, on the occasion of President Biden's trip to Israel, she is demanding that Biden get a list of the names of Israeli Defense Force troops and their commander who were involved in a deadly shootout with Palestinian terrorists last May in Jenin, a shootout in which a Palestinian-American journalist was fatally shot.

The Palestinian narrative is that Shireen Abu Akleh was intentionally shot and killed by someone in the IDF. The true facts are not really known. An examination of the bullet by the US State Department Security Office found that the damage to the bullet was too extensive to determine its origin, but that it was likely, from the positioning of the combatants, that it was an Israeli bullet. Even so, there had been no evidence that leads to the conclusion that Abu Akleh was shot on purpose as opposed to being caught in the crossfire while covering the gun battle.

But that's not good enough for the Jew-hating congresswoman from Michigan. She wants the US Justice Department to prosecute the Israeli soldiers and their commander for murdering a US citizen. While that may be legally possible under US laws, I seriously doubt that Israel would actually turn over its military members to the Biden Justice Department, which is currently highly politicized.

It will be interesting to see if our cognitively-impaired president (he is going senile) will actually raise the issue when he is in Israel. I don't see much good coming out of Biden's visit in the first place, and I surely don't understand why Israel is bestowing its highest civilian award on Biden, but I digress.

Rashida Tlaib's demands should not even merit a response from Israel. Unless information arises that an Israeli soldier deliberately targeted Abu Akleh, it's simply one of the tragedies of war. War correspondents certainly know the risk when they go into war zones and cover firefights. As things now stand, there is no evidence of intent.

But I wish the people of Israel well when Biden arrives. I promise you, it will be an eye-opener. At least he won't be bringing Rashida Tlaib with him.
