The final death toll in yesterday's shooting rampage in Copenhagen stands at three. It appears there was only one shooter, a 22-year-old Danish man with a history of psychiatric troubles. Police have not released the man's name, which is standard in most European countries pending trial and conviction, but the internet has posted a name. Rather than make an error, I will refrain from posting the name unless it becomes certain.
What was the motive specifically, and what are this man's demons? I don't know. It was obviously not an act of Islamic terrorism. Whether he was seeking out any particular kind of victims, i.e. Jews or Muslims, I don't know. My feeling today, subject to change upon further information being released, is that what we have here is a US-style random mass shooting attack.
