Shame on George Gascon

"The Peace Officers Research Association of California, or PORAC, established a fundraising campaign on behalf of the officers' families. The fundraiser can be found at https://porac.org/fundraiser/el-monte-police-officers/."

-Fox News 11, Los Angeles

Yesterday in El Monte, California, a press conference was held in tribute to slain El Monte police officers Michael Paredes and Joseph Santana. It was held by the El Monte Police Association with the approval of the Paredes and Santana families. Speaking at the press conference were the mother of Officer Santana and survivors of other Los Angeles area police officers murdered over the past several years.

Everyone who spoke harshly condemned LA Country District Attorney George Gascon for the policies that led to the deaths of these two officers, both born and raised in El Monte, both leaving behind wives and children.

Justin Flores, the man suspected of killing these officers (He was also killed in the shootout), would have been in prison but for the policies of Gascon. He was arrested in 2020 for being a felon in possession of a gun and should have been sent to prison for about three years. Instead, he got a plea deal and probation.

As a result, two El Monte police officers lost their lives.

The recall effort against Gascon has now received enough petition signatures to get on the November ballot. More signatures are needed since some signatures are normally disqualified. If you live in Los Angeles County, I urge you to add your name to the petition. Crime in Los Angeles is soaring and you have a DA who doesn't believe in incarceration.

San Francisco just successfully recalled Chesa Boudin, who is of the same ilk as Gascon. LA should do the same with Gascon.
