UCLA Professor Under Fire for Using the W-Word

Hat tip The College Fix

That's "Wuhan" for all you UC Santa Cruz Community Studies and History of Consciousness majors, the city in China where the Wuhan virus originated.

But we are not supposed to call it the Wuhan virus, you see.

That's what Professor Eliezer Gafni did at UCLA, and now there is a petition seeking his removal as chair of the Computer Science Department.

"Their complaints include that as interim chair he “demonstrated conscious disregard for the racialized experiences of people of color in the United States,” a petition for his removal states."

I assume being an Israeli didn't help his case either.

The College Fix also has a link to a Syracuse University professor, Jon Zubieta, who is also under fire for using the term, "Wuhan virus". He also probably used the term, "Orangemen".

This is the climate in today's academia.
