On Sunday, a Muslim man known to the police for his radicalization, was shot and wounded in the area of Metz by police as he wielded a knife and shouted, "Allahu Akhbar". A man who was brandishing a knife to the cry of "Allahu akbar" on a street in the Borny quarter of Metz was wounded Sunday, January 5 in the middle of the day by police during their intervention. According to the State Prosecutor in Metz, Christian Mercuri, this man (who)  was born in 1989 was "known for his radicalization and personality disorders".

"He was wounded, his vital prognosis was not (disclosed)," a police source indicated to AFP, pointing out that the police officers "were threatened" upon arriving at the scene and had to use their arms to neutralize it. Nobody else was wounded, according to this source. The man "was placed under guard in a  hospital environment", continued the prosecutor.

A serious investigation, entrusted to the PJ of Metz, is open on attempted homicide of (police) officers, declared the prosecutor to AFP, noting that he made contact with the anti-terrorist section of the Public Prosecutor for their evaluation of the incident.
On Twitter, the minister of the interior saluted the rapid intervention of the police and announced that the ministry was following the events that have occurred with attention and vigilance along with the prefect of Moselle.
