What Did Conte and Merkel Really Say in Davos?

Hat tip Pack TV, Vlad Tepes and Gates of Vienna. Translation by Fousesquawk.

Back in January, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and German Chancellor Angela Merkel were filmed at a bar in Davos, Switzerkand during the World Economic Forum.  The audio was very poor and they were speaking in English. At the time, I produced a spoof on the encounter using my own made-up text for purposes of humor.

Now others have produced real sub-titles, most notably, the Italian media. The effect is anything but humourous as Conte and Merkel are basically discussing ways of circumventing Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini's efforts to close Italian ports to ships bringing in migrants from the Middle East and Africa. In effect, it represents an attempt to thwart the will of the majority of the Italian people, who want uncontrolled migration into their country stopped.

A note on translation: Again, the converaation between the two is in English, and the audio is quite poor. I myself am not able to adequately understand what is said between the two in most places. Therefore, my translation is based on the Italian sub-titles as produced by the Italian media.
