The FBI and NYPD have arrested 22-year-old Bangladeshi, Ashiqul Alam, a resident of New York City and charged him with planning to launch a grenade and shooting attack on Times Square. You will note in the below report from NBC-NY that Alam stated that he supported the 9-11 attacks, and made refernces to Al Qaeda and ISIS. In addition, he stated his wish to see the flag of Islam on top of the World Trade Center or Empire State Building. These details were reported today by Fox News since Alam appeared in court and his name was released.

Today, watching CNN's Brooke Baldwin show, in reporting the arrest, there was no mention of Alam's nationality. (Bangladesh is a Muslim-majority country.) All that was given was his name. Nor was there any mention of the above statements. Fox News, at the same time, was reporting the above details. While CNN made no mention of a possible motive, the motive is quite clear.
