Italy: Two Dead After North African Illegal Immigrant Sets Police Station on Fire

Last night in the area of Modena, an 18-year-old North African man, who was in Italy illegally and had had received a deportation order, was arrested for setting fire to a police building at three in the morning., The fire spread to the second and third floors where there were private residences. The result is that two people are dead and several others hospitalized with smoke inhalation. Italy is naturally asking why this man was in the country to begin with.

The young man, who has numerous prior arrests and who, finally, was hit with an order of expulsion, was arrested with the charges of aggravated theft, damage resulting from a  fire and deaths as a result of another crime. According to the investigation by the Carabinieri, the young man, around three in the morning, entered the municipal police hqs of Mirandola and after coming into possession of a flak vest, and a (police) cell phone, three service caps, and some equipment, set fire to some apparel.

It is not clear the motivation at the base of the act but not excluded is the (possibility)  of a vendetta for proceedings against him by the same municipality.
