Two German Teens Dead After Being Run Over by Train in Nuremberg

German chancellor Angela Merkel

Last Friday night-Saturday morning, three German teens were involved in an altercation with two other teens at an S-Bahn station for the Nuremberg stadium. The three aforementioned teens were reportedly pushed onto the tracks in front of an oncoming train. Two were run over and killed while the third was able to get off the track in time. Two 17-year-olds have been arrested. They are described as German-born with a Turkish and Greek background respectively. As might be predicted, the media is being accused of downplaying or hiding the background of the two suspects and implying that the three victims may have fallen to the tracks during the scuffle. The below article has comments by anti-Islam activist Michael Stuerzenberger and writer and ex-cop Tim Kellner.

Not everything is clear here, but one thing that is emerging is that the German media is under fire. Not only for the above reasons but also the fact that they have hounded the residents of the nearby village of Heroldsberg, where the victims resided. The Nürnberger Nachrichten  was quite critical of its media colleagues behavior in hounding members of the grieving community. (Below article for those of you who read German.)

I am quite familiar with the area having been stationed in nearby Erlangen during my military service in the 1960s. Ironically, the train station where this occurred is near the infamous site of the Nuremberg party rallies of the Nazi era. The Reichsparteitag area includes the stadium.

Though I consider myself a supporter of Stuerzenberger (who is located in Munich), I am not entirely comfortable with some of his speculations about the suspects. Kellner refers to them as "migrants" though they were apparently born in Germany. It does appear, however, that the media wants to skirt any angle that might feed into the immigrant controversy in Germany in any way. I think this story merits follow up. For one thing, it is highly unlikely that all three members of one side "fell" onto the tracks. In one exception to the trend, here is how the news outlet Bild illustrated it:
