Today, the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela reached a new stage. At border crossings with both Colombia and Brazil, Venezuelan protesters clashed with Venezuelan National Guard troops in a effort to open the borders for humanitarian food supplies from the US and other countries. In some cases, troops have fired on protesters, and it appears there have been several deaths. In other cases, some troops have crossed over to the protesters.

I hope people like Sean Penn, Harry Belafonte and Danny Glover are watching today's events after all the years they have spent pumping up the Hugo Chavez-Nicolas Maduro dictatorship. The chickens are coming home to roost.
