Ilhan Omar’s tweets about AIPAC:“I talked to Ilhan last night to give her my personal support. We will stand by our Muslim brothers and sisters.”

Bernie Sanders has reportedly stated that he is "standing by" Ilhan Omar in the wake of her anti-Jewish statements.
But why should Bernie (who is nominally Jewish) give a rip about Omar's statements? Why should Bernie give a rip that she is scheduled to speak at an annual CAIR bash in California on March 23rd?
After all, this is a guy who spent his honeymoon in the former Soviet Union.
