"Immeasurable Damage" to Temple

That's what Temple University President of the Board of Trustees Patrick O'Connor had to say about Professor Marc Lamont Hill's speech to the UN, in which he defended the violent tactics of Palestinians against Israelis and called for a Palestine "from the river to the sea".

Unlike CNN, which decided they did not want their name and brand associated with Hill's comments, Temple has decided that it should respect Hill's right of free speech. In all honesty, I would not be entirely comfortable had Temple fired Hill.

Instead, let Temple's reputation, already questionable due to recent anti-semitic expressions by others, continue to take a hit. Let donors decide to give their money elsewhere. Let students decide to attend other universities. Let Temple suffer in the pocket book. Ultimately, that's the only way these questionable institutions of higher learning will ever reform.
