Hat tip Campus Reform
Professor Gregg Gonsalves, an associate law professor at Yale, has some interesting perspectives on the law when it comes to issues of illegal immigration. He advocates hiding illegal aliens from ICE and disclosing the home addresses of ICE agents.

If this is Gonsalves' idea of the law, he has no business in any law school. He is advocating lawlessness.
Yale has lost it's standing as an exceptional University, with this kind of teaching of lawlessness as a standard. Of course, these law school grads may become Activist Judges.

There were probably some law professors who hid Jews from the Nazis too. Not morally equivalent cases, but it was "lawlessness" both times. Be careful what foundation you argue from.
ReplyDeleteOf course there is no moral equivalency.
ReplyDeleteYou weren't talking about morality. You were talking about lawlessness.
ReplyDeleteI recall a sympathetic TV news report about a Quaker and his wife who smuggled Salvadorean refugees across the border at the height of the civil war in El Salvador. His wife said she wasn't looking forward to her husband being arrested, but neither of them wanted to be Good Germans. Of course I later realized that if a Quaker can successfully smuggle a few refugees across the border, then well armed and organized drug gangs can smuggle arsenals, tons of cocaine, sex slaves, and all kinds of things across that same border.
Real life is generally not easy.
