The Trump-Putin Summit and Born-Again Cold Warriors

Now that President Trump has met Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, the Democrats and the media are all acting like born again Cold Warriors in bashing Trump for his (perceived) failure to confront Putin over the issue of Russian interference in our last election. It is particularly funny to watch noted "red-baiter" Chuck Schumer scold Trump for not recognizing that Russia is not our friend.

Aside from Trump's (uncharacteristically) diplomatic language toward his counterpart during the joint press conference, we don't know what was said in private about the issue in dispute. For all we know, Trump might have put Putin in a choke hold and Putin simply denied being involved in any interference. Now we have ex-CIA chief John Brennan implying that Trump is a traitor. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Both Democrats and Republicans know that the Russians tried to interfere in our election. It's called espionage. and it is what powerful adversaries do to each other. They do it to us, and we do it to them. It is my hope that privately, Trump assured Putin that two can play the same game and that there will be consequences if it repeats itself. What he says to Putin in private is more important than what he said at the press conference.

But if Trump is a traitor for not trying to take Putin down publicly, what was then-President Obama when he told then-Russian president Dmitry Medvedev on a hot mic, "Tell Vladimir that after the election, I can be more flexible"?

In addition, let's not forget that the Russian meddling was conducted while Obama was president. We also know that Obama and his intelligence officials, like the santamonious John Brennan, were aware it was going on but decided not to go public because they were so sure that Hillary Clinton was going to win the election. Where is the outrage against them? Of course, Obama knows a thing or two about meddling in other countries' elections. He sent his own operatives over to Israel to work against the candidacy of Benyamin Netanyahu. Where is the outrage over that?

And where was the outrage when the DNC and the Clinton campaign hired Christopher Steele to produce the infamous Russian dossier, which was used by the Obama Justice Department to obtain a FISA warrant for a wiretap on Carter Page? Collusion with the Russians? There you have proof. After 18 months, Special Prosecutor Bob Mueller and his team of Democrat investigators ( which initially included Peter Strzok) have yet to produce one iota of proof that Trump and/or his campaign had anything to do with the Russian meddling. Just last week, Mueller indicted 12 Russians for hacking into the DNC database. (Of course, getting into Hillary's communication systems doesn't even require hacking. One could have accomplished that with a Red Rider Super Spy Kit.) But what has it accomplished? Mueller will never get his hands of those 12 Russians and it still doesn't show that Trump had anything to do with it.

It doesn't matter what Trump says or doesn't say. It matters not what he does or doesn't do. The left and the media are going to find a way to attack him. It's just noise.

  1. Your "whataboutism" is, predictably, on point. Considering that it's a favorite tactic of Russian propagandists, I guess it's appropriate, tovarisch.

Anything to avoid the reality I guess.

  2. The difference is that there is proof supporting my "whatabouts" while yours has no proof.

    Which reminds me-
What about the Uranium One whatabout?

  3. Everything you say about the Dems is true. Meantime, the GOP is chanting "We have always been friends with Eastasia." A pox on both their houses.
