Hat tip Gates of Vienna
Dutch politician Geert Wilders is planning to hold a "Draw Mohammad" context in the Dutch Parliament later this year. In response, the 56-nation bloc of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the largest voting bloc in the UN is protesting. The OIC, which for years, has been lobbying the UN to pass a resolution that member nations pass laws against defamation of religions (Islam, actually).

It is amazing the hypocrisy of the OIC. While Christians in the Middle East are being slaughtered or driven out of Arab countries, while imams curse Jews and Christians in mosques around the world, while the Muslim daily prayers defame Christians and Jews by reciting Sura on, verses 1-7, these people have the nerve to want to criminalize any negative comments about Islam.
"Freedom of expression does not mean insulting the feelings of others; an attitude which cuts against the universal principle of respect for religions."
Maybe not in their countries, but in the US, we do not abridge free speech because somebody is offended or has his/her feelings hurt. When Hillary Clinton was secretary of state, she met with the OIC behind closed doors as they tried to lobby for her support on this issue. new the First Amendment protects free speech, so she tried to placate them (though we don't know what was said behind closed doors). What she did say publicly was that they (the administration) would shame "Islamophobes" publicly.
But Hillary is gone now, and I don't think the OIC will get far with Nikki Haley.
Yeah, its sort of like public arts funding paying for that "Piss Christ" work that was widely publicized a couple of decades ago.
