The Anti-Semitism Awareness Act

The Louis D Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under the Law has issued the below article in support of the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act.

Of course, blanks need to be filled in here. What is reported is that in 2017, the ADL reported a 57% increase in anti-semitic incidents. Most of the problems occur on college campuses. Therein lies your clue. The major source of the problem is the pro-Palestinian agitation coming from Muslim Student Associations and the Students for Justice in Palestine. Even Jewish organizations are mostly afraid to mention Islam or Muslims in connection with the problem. (I just did.)

The legislation is opposed by the left, as exemplified by the ACLU, and virtually every pro-Palestinian group you can imagine including misfit Jewish organizations like Jewish Voice for Peace. The entire argument is that it would hamper free speech-in other words, those criticizing Israel. It would not. Hopefully, it would address the intimidation of Jewish students on campus and disruption of any event they might want to put on in support of Israel.

Opponents also object to using the State Department's definition of anti-semitism because certain criteria pertain to Israel-not criticism of Israeli policies per se but applying a double standard to Israel on human rights not applied to other nations, applying the Nazi label to Israel and Jews, as well as holding Jews worldwide responsible for the actions of Israel. Mere criticism of Israel, its government, or its policies is not considered anti-semitic.

There is no excuse for Congress not passing this piece of legislation.
