Just Who Is "The Perfect Man"?

Bilboard
Who could it be?

Above is a billboard that was put up on a highway outside Indianapolis last year. Many Muslim groups have objected, calling it racist and hurtful.

In fact, there is a fund raising campaign designed to put this billboard up all over the country.

What is intriguing is that the billboard itself does not identify who this person is. There are no names. For all we know, it could be....

Nah.

Seriously, this billboard does, in fact, stimulate debate. To many, the answer is obvious. To some, maybe it is Alfred E Neuman. Is this an example of free speech? Or is it so objectionable to some that it should be censored? Remember, no names are given.

This is protected speech in my opinion. Even most liberal constitutional scholars agree that there is no constitutional right not to be offended. On the other hand, there is no guarantee that my blog provider won't remove the above photo. (I have already gotten that mixed content warning.)

Maybe they know who this man is.

  1. Sounds like someone from the Bible.

Pedophilia, Rape, Mass Murder, etc. are all Condoned in the Bible and individuals who partake in listed activities are considered to be "Heros".

Heck, the whole Christian Religion is based around their "god" knocking up a little Virgin girl (Mary).

  2. Anonymous,

Whatever troublesome passages you may have found in the Bible (probably Old Testament), they are nothing more than dusty old passages that no real Christian would practice. (Yes, some Catholic priests are guilty of pedophilia)On the other hand, I can name some people who practice all of the above based on religious beliefs and backed up by a holy book, the words and deeds of their prophet.

    A few questions:

    Who did Christ ever murder?
Who did he ever order murdered?
    Who did he ever rape?

Whom did Christ ever go to war against?
What army did he ever lead?
Did he ever have sexual relations with girls under the age of say, 12?
What acts of violence did he ever commit?
What group of people did he ever preach hatred against?
    Whom did he ever enslave?

If you want to talk about pedophile (Catholic ) priests or the Inquisition or things that happened centuries ago, I'm with you. Don't bring up the Crusades because that was a case of mutual combat.

If you want to talk about who is killing whom today in the 21st century and what is their basis for those acts. Let's have that discussion, Mr Anonymous.
